I am super excited after visiting this place for dinner yesterday. Reason is the tastefully decorated interiors and a cozy ambience combined with a terrific dining experience as you’ll get to enjoy good food sourced from fresh produce and seasonal ingredients.
Started off the meal by having a refreshing shake of Custard Apple & Chia which had the perfect consistency and amazing taste. Tried two different soups -
Tulasi & Nimbenu Soup with Hand pulled millet noodles - Tastes a bit like lemon rasam and very soothing ; the noodles enhance the flavours
Ridge Gourd & Mushroom soup - It is one of the best soups I have had ; love the hint of the spices, herbs and cilantro
Moving on to salads, I loved the protein rich Mix Beans sprouts chettinadu sundal with nippat. The dish is light yet tasty and healthy. Love the way its tossed with chettinad spices
From the small plates, we tried:
Crispy papad hara kebab - The only restaurant where the hara kebab is truly filled with pure spinach. The crispy papad coating makes it even more appetising ; goes very well with the yoghurt dip and mint chutney served with it
Pot roasted makkhai and singhara gilafi seekh - Love the presentation and taste of this scrumptious seekh ; it is served with a mindblowing black plum sauce ; Must try
Mini Appam with Spinach Stew – The stew was delicious and was great with the appam. They also gave some Avial (Kerala style mixed veggies with yogurt) as an accompaniment.
Large Plates:
Akki Roti – A roti made of rice ; We ordered one portion and it was too good so ended up ordering one more. The roti was cooked to perfection and served piping hot with gongura chutney and avarekai masala. Great dish!!!
Mushroom & Jalapeno Ema Datshi – This Bhutanese national dish was absolutely delightful. Made of chili peppers and cheese, this paired well with the rice. I was impressed as it tasted just like the ones I had in Bhutan.
Saffron Pulao with Paneer Lajawab – This dish was indeed lajawab. Mildly spiced yet great in taste. Love the long grain rice. The paneer was soft and melted in my mouth.
No meal is complete without desserts. So we tried the following:
Vegan Ice Cream – A perfect option for everyone ; this was not very creamy but the taste was bang on. We opted for the Rose & Hibiscus flavor.
Mysore Pak with custard apple cream – This was my absolute favourite. Loved how the flavours blended well.
Rasmalai cheesecake – Love the taste and the presentation. A true fusion dessert which was loved by everyone.
If you were to ask me my favourite among all of the above, I would say all. You can't go wrong with anything you order here. Trust me on that.
Overall verdict - If you haven't been here, you are...
Read moreWe have been coming to GoNative Lavelle road since a couple of years. It has always been a great experience - right from walking through Beruru and their retail products, all the way till the end. Recently they have revamped their interiors as well as their menu offering - I'll cover first the parts that have remained the same, and then about what has changed.
But before I begin - thanks to Dorjee who served us at our most recent visit and made it a great experience with his attentive and prompt service, and his ever-present warm smile :)
What has stayed the same :
Warm, cozy interiors with relaxing decor and indoor greenery make for a cozy setting to engage in long chat sessions / focus work.
Great menu selection with a good variety of beverages, starters and small/large plates. Most dishes are a fusion, and have been intricately designed. So you should expect something new, but with balanced flavours that let you enjoy without overwhelming you with "newness" or being "too fancy to enjoy while relaxing".
Good service.
What is new :
Menu has been completely revamped at the Lavelle outlet, not yet at others. This is a subjective opinion, but let me present mine nevertheless. I think that now GoNative Lavelle has one of the most sophisticated and intricately designed cuisines to offer in Bangalore. And they do as good a job in preparing the dishes (since I've been to many places that offer a fancy dish but fall short of cooking it as well on a regular day). We ordered several dishes, and either they were "good - pretty decent" to "wow! I haven't had this fresh a take on XYZ dish ever". For example: Chaat platter - combo of 3 - loved the sabudana tikki, and esp the ajwain leaf chaat. Golgappa was decent Crispy shimeji mushroom with thai red curry - Loved it too! Both options were fresh and fulfilling Water chestnut dimsum - Pretty decent Spinach padala with paneer pottalam - It was enjoyable and filling - Interesting take of spinach dosa with paneer ghee roast filling Signature dessert with wined cherries , coffee and cake (forgot its name) - It was enjoyable but I hoped it was bigger in size :P
And, oh my god, I loved the pottery collection! Dandwat-pranaam to whoever curated and purchased the ceramic collection ❤️It is by far the best pottery that I've seen in any place in or out of Bangalore! Unique shapes perfect for the dish at hand, beautiful glaze colours and textures that give a lovely tactile feedback just to scoop your food, and so much more! Man, i so wished I could take some for my home😄
All in all, enjoyed my...
Read moreMy friend was visiting Bengaluru and we decided to catch up over lunch, he wanted to eat something fancy and insisted on a pure vegetarian restaurant with classy vibes. So I said Let's GO NATIVE. The dining area of this Go Native is located on the second floor of the building, The interesting part is the pathway that leads to this dining area is through a beautiful store of sustainable products on the first floor which gives you an aesthetically pleasing vibe while you enter/exit the restaurant.
The restaurant wasn't very crowded, already a few large tables were occupied. We were directed towards a two seater table near the window. One of the staff Mr.Dorjee handed over the menu to us. After going through the entire menu for 3-4 times we couldn't decide what to order so we thought of taking some suggestions from Mr.Dorjee.
We wanted something Indian, not heavy and something similar to chat . Mr.Dorjee understood our requirements and suggested that we should go for Red and Black Rice Dosa & a Chatt Platter. Guess what our order did arrive within a blink of an eye.
First we were served with Chat Platter, which was a tri of golgappa, sabudana tikki chaat and palak patta chaat served on a yellow color plate which made it look beautiful, the color of the plate was totally complementing the colorful chats placed on it. The Golgappa had a twist of jeera water and mint flavoured paani. The palak chaat did taste fresh and the sabudana tikki had its authentic flavours .
The Red and Black Rice Dosa looked even more beautiful, 2 pairs of each mini dosas were served with a tasty coconut chutney and a tomato chutney. The dosas were perfectly roasted and coated with a delicious seasoning, which elevated the entire dish to the new level.
The washroom is something you must see, its well maintained and well decorated washroom for some nice mirror selfies. Overall Had a great experience dining here. It's a perfect 5 start place but I'm deducting a start because it's a bit expensive, the prices are too high, pricing of the dishes could...
