Review for meals enjoyed about a year ago
Lavonne is definitely one of the best places serving delicious gourmet food.
Food: Overall we enjoyed every bit of food that we had ordered. It was a fun day for our palettes and a wonderful experience.
Blueberry Cheesecake: The cheesecake was quite good however I have tasted better blueberry coulis elsewhere. Opera Cake: It was good with precise layers - a good burst of multiple flavours. Would suggest ordering in the end. Toasts with Eggs, Bacon & Pesto Drizzle: A straight forward sourdough toast with medium to hard boiled eggs with bits of bacon spread across. Butter Croissant & Almond Croissant: The best that we have had so far. Airy and flaky, the flavour the butter is so well incorporated. They quite literally melts in one's mouth. Really good. Definitely recommended! Danish: Again a very flaky preparation and was quite delicious. 'Disclaimer: Tried Danish for the first time' Nutella eclair: The amount of flavouring/filling was good and the presentation was excellent. The top garnish also haad salted caramel which elevated the whole experience of this dessert. Americano: This was ordered to serve the purpose of a palette neutraliser, which it did very well. P.S: Though their menu states the staples, their display counter will give you some great additional dessert options to choose from!
Ambience: The place is a beautiful cafe setup with wonderful chic interiors. They also have a nice outdoor seating facility. Very 'Instagrammy' interiors if you are looking for such a place. The place can accommodate small to huge groups comfortably. In case of weekends, reserving a table may be a good option.
Value for money: The place is definitely priced on the higher end of the Bengaluru pricing spectrum. Having said that, the place does serve some really good food.
Service & Staff: The staff here are great and very...
Read moreI order croissants from here all the time and they are excellent. However, this afternoon, I came here for a quick lunch. The fries and the chocolate cupcake were the best. The cold coffee was too sweet. In an expensive place such as this they really need to serve a small shot glass of sugar syrup on the side so that we can add it to preference. The vegetables in the foccacia were undercooked, semi-raw thick chunks of zucchini. It was seasoned only with salt and pepper and there was no flavour. I don't think these people use olive oil. All the juice was dripping from the sandwich and it was soggy and mediocre. The flavour was definitely not as fancy as the presentation. I mean really, what does it take to cook and season a few vegetables properly. The vegetable sandwich at a local juice shop, between 2 slices of white bread is made with more care. This is the second time I have been disappointed with a meal here. For the service, some young trainee took ages to make a basic bill and kept me standing for 10 minutes at the counter. There was much bewilderment and confusion just because the Pain au Chocolate I'd ordered earlier was already billed by someone else in the counter. Then after 10 minutes of waiting he asked me if I had already taken a Pain au Chocolate and if this was the second one. That was rather rude. I think the management send their trainee staff to this branch. For every single thing he had to ask the more experienced guy next to him who was busy with something else. He could have at least asked me to sit down while he figured things out. The ac was way too cold in the seat near the door and the music was too loud. For a pricey place such as this, attention to small details which one would expect, is not present. In the end you simply feel ripped off rather...
Read moreThis lovely weekend morning with the rain clouds over my head, my quest for a new breakfast spot led me to Lavonne on Saint Marks Road—a charming cafe known for its pastries and artisanal coffee.
I was in the mood to try something different compared to my usual routine, so I decided to go with a French Press instead of my regular brew. If you are into black coffee like me, you will appreciate it. It had that deep, bold flavor that hits the right spots, but with an extra kick. Not bad for a change!
Next up was the food, and I ventured into new territory again—this time with a Creamy Chicken Croissanwich topped with provolone and smashed avocado. Curiosity got the best of me, and I wanted to see how avocado would blend in my morning diet… Well, let me just say, for my taste buds, it totally didn’t. The texture and flavor combo didn’t sit right with me, but hey, that’s just me. If you are an avocado fan, you might feel differently.
To round things off, I went for a classic Pain Au Chocolate. Thankfully, it didn’t disappoint. Crisp, buttery layers with a smooth chocolate center—exactly what I needed to save the morning.
Overall, the meal was decent, but what truly stood out was the ambiance. Lavonne Cafe's cozy, relaxed vibe makes it a perfect spot for an early morning visit when you can have the place almost to yourself. The staff is attentive, and you will feel well taken care of. Would I go back? Definitely—for the coffee and the atmosphere. Just maybe not for the avocado… That’s me...
