KARIMS - Salt Lake — Restaurant in Bidhannagar

We went to Karims (Original from Delhi 6) for a weekday dinner in June and had the following items: Murgh Makhmali Kebab - 4-5 pcs of Chicken Reshmi kebab with green chutney tasted amazing. (9/10) (Price: Rs. 340) Galouti Kebab - 4 pcs of Galouti Kebab with Paratha served with onions was a pure bliss to the taste buds. Must try! (10/10) (Price: Rs. 560) Love is in the Air - Sweet and tangy mocktail containing orange and cranberry base. (9/10) (Price: Rs. 190) Green Sea - Mocktail with green apple base (10/10) (Price: Rs. 160) Kolkata Gosht Dum Biriyani (Special) - Dum biriyani with 2 average sized mutton pcs and 1 egg and 2 Alu. Will be adequate for 1 person and 1 child. Taste was good and the mutton pieces were soft. (10/10) (Price: Rs. 590) Mutton Nihari - 4 Mutton Nalli pcs were also good and will go with Butter Naan or Keema Naan. (10/10) (Price: Rs. 560) Mutton Handi - 4 pcs of Mutton with Keema gravy were delightful and also a must try. (10/10) (Price: Rs. 570) Rogini Naan (Butter Naan) - 3 pcs of Butter Naan per plate, will suggest to order cautiously as the sizes were pretty big and also thick. Worth the price! (10/10) (Price: Rs. 90) Keema Naan - We didn't like the Keema Naan as it was dry and the taste was also not worth with the price. Serves 3 pcs per plate (5/10) (Price: Rs. 200) Green Salad - Normal salad, nothing special (10/10) (Price: Rs. 80)

Overall, we loved the taste except for the Keema Naan, hope that will be improved the next time we visit.

Waiters and Servers were helpful and polite. And the service was also good.

Parking - Ample free street parking for both 2-wheelers...

I know during the Durga Puja, handling customers is a challenge, BUT, there are some etiquettes which a restaurant personnel needs to follow no matter what the situation is. Went there on day of Nawbomi, It was packed and waited for 30 mins to finally get a seat. 35 minutes and a plead/request later , we recieved the menu. During the Puja's Restaurant switch to a small menu to avoid confusion on what is available, but not this establishment. They gave us an entire menu, where many dishes (including any kind of fizzy drinks) were unavailable. When a guest arrives at your establishment, the least you can do is serve water, but not here. What served was copious amounts of cutlery. What we ordered: Chicken and Mutton Biryani Mutton Burra Kebab and 2 servings of cold drinks.

The Biryani was nothing to rave about. The rice was sticky. They serve egg with Chicken Biryani but not with Mutton Biryani, weird. The Mutton Burra Kebab was a challenge to chew. They took it away for futher grilling upon complain, but this time the meat was barely tender but the outer layer completely charred. We never received the coke that we order but they were naive enough to add it to the bill. They also charged ₹40 for the Mineral water. I don't if that's the norm.

This review is based on my experience at Karim's for the first time and that also during the Durga Pija rush. You may face a different picture after the Pujas. If you do, request you to...

I had been to Karim's Saltlake outlet twice. On 24th '23 June the food was average & some items were good. But on 2nd Aug '23 something weird happened...we ordered mutton Galawati Kebab it was bitter due to excess garam masala... We were three in a group n the item had 4pieces....we eat one each n all of them were bitter.... 4th one we cut in half to taste it was bitter too. We called the waiter n he said, as you ate them all, we cant change it. Then came seekh kebab. . This time we took 1.5 n divided among us to taste...it had too much salt. We called the waiter n said...it is unbearable n unacceptable. We insisted him to change it..as we didnt eat all the kebabs. Everyone got disappointed n lost mood for more kebabs & wanted some room for d biriyani...we asked him to pack the seekh kebabs. When we reached home, I saw only two pieces of seekh kebab & they changed nothing at all. It was bitter with excess salt. I have never come across a chain of restaurant being so unprofessional.

I had been to karim's, other outlets in Kolkata n other states as well. Never experienced, something so horrible. Karim's management should check who was responsible on 2nd Aug at Saltlake who made us go through such an...
