This is not the first time I visited Barbeque Nation, but this experience has definitely made me hesitant of visiting this place again. The outlet I visited is Banjara Hills. It was as always crowded with people moving around buffet spread which is a much expected sight at such places. We had a reservation hence got seated instantly. The grill was set up after a wait of 5-8 mins which was again ok. And now started the disappointments. We were handed over a menu saying some mutton festival which included mutton raan, shami kebab, haleem, biryani, marg etc. The person who was taking care of our table service guided us that starters will be served on the table and rest all can be plated from the buffet and in case needed she can bring it for us as well. We were curious of mutton raan hence requested to get started with mutton raan and shaami kebab. The waiter replied these two will be available at the counter and suggested we get it from there as they live counter would serve faster to guests. When we walked to counter to place a request for these two, the counte confirmed that these two will be served on the table not at live counters. We came back and again placed a request. To which we were again told it is available at the live counter. It got a little annoying but we kept our calm and started of with regular grills served on the table. The taste I must say has gone down, the condiments were not refilled on the table, the table was not being cleared with the extra plates or grills (in all my previous experiences, the table was cleared in a jiffy to allow a free movement in the table). This is not all, now the two exclusive dishes we requested were still not served, we finished our meal and in between had to repeatedly remind of it. After a much long wait two tiny pieces of shaami kebab were sent to a table. The taste was not impressive at all hence recommend not to go here with any high expectations. What triggered to the heights is when we made a final request of mutton raan, one of the manager said it's not available but we can get marg haleem etc. This was it! We pulled back and just rushed to finish what we could to take an exit from this place. Then the manager again approached us to seek feedback on the taste etc and there we counter questioned him why mutton raan was mentioned in the menu when it was not going to be served. He immediately replied "it is available let me bring it for you", and left. We were all done with our meal now so didn't really care much and started off with our desserts. When we were having our final dessert that kulfi, the manager got a plate of cooked mutton pieces and said this is mutton raan and that it takes time to cook and when I said " was it not on the buffet for today?" He replied " Haan but wo thanda hota hai usko pakana..." He was not clear with whatever explanation he gave and neither did I ask further. I politely requested to take it back as we are done and the plate is untouched so won't go wasted however he insisted us to eat and left it on the table saying "please try atleast a piece" I didn't understand his point of asking to waste a whole plate of cooked food by suggesting we touch and taste at least a piece from it but I'll still counted it as a part of his hospitality. We tasted one piece and it tasted no different than Mutton Rogan Josh which was dish on the buffet already. Now comming to the ambience and hygiene, I witnessed a lot of scenes where hygiene was compromised but not in a scary way. The food was spilled on the counters especially the dessert counter and no one attended to clean it up which is very unlikely of BBQ nation I experienced earlier. The only thing I would mention was nice about the whole experience is the one waiter who attended our table Ms Sonali. Will I visit the place again? Not atleast until I hear a different feedback of it from any...
Read moreI am writing to share my extremely disappointing experience at your Banjara Hills branch during our visit on 15th Dec at 7:45 PM. I had high expectations from your restaurant, especially as I chose to dine there with my wife and 5-year-old child after canceling a reservation at Bidri. Unfortunately, the experience left us regretting our decision. Below are the details of the issues we faced:
Food Quality Issues: The food lacked taste and was poorly prepared. Most of the starters were either burnt black or overly salty and spicy, making them unsuitable for children or even adults to enjoy. The marination process was clearly rushed. The flavors were limited to the surface layer, while the meat (Prawns, Chicken, Fish) tasted raw and lacked seasoning. Only the Mutton Seekh Kebab was somewhat acceptable, but the rest of the starters were dry and flavorless.
Unprofessional Staff Behavior: When we raised the concern with the waiter serving us, he argued that the flavors cannot always be consistent. Such a response was highly unprofessional and dismissive. Despite requesting to speak with the chef, the replacement skewers provided still suffered from the same rawness and lack of proper marination. The Executive Chef tried to salvage the situation by asking for suggestions but seemed more concerned about avoiding negative feedback than addressing the root cause of the issues.
Main Course Disappointment: The main course was below average, with a spread of only 8–10 items for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Specific issues: Biryani was dry and overly salty. Cucumbers were overripe, and carrots were not fresh. Dal Makhani was too heavily creamed, making it unappetizing.
Desserts and Fruits: The dessert and fruit section, which we had hoped would redeem the meal, was equally dismal. Watermelon was the only fruit in decent condition, while muskmelon looked bruised and unappetizing.
Service Charge and Overall Service: Adding insult to injury, I was charged a service fee of ₹118, which I had to request to be removed. The staff's focus seemed more on avoiding feedback than ensuring that we had an enjoyable dining experience. Overall Experience: This was a deeply disappointing experience, especially for a family dinner that we had hoped would be special. The lack of attention to food quality, staff professionalism, and overall service has left us with no desire to return to Barbeque Nation in the future.
I hope you take this feedback seriously and address these issues to ensure no other customer has a...

Barbeque Nation, one of the oldest and popular grilling station in hyderabad, following the trend of food festivals has come up with #AromasOfDakshinIndia - a festival of south indian cuisine, to keep their customers enticed. Place is lightly decorated to give you a vibe of the festival and they have retained their regular buffet prices (varies for different days and time) for the festival period which will run till 12th Nov.
While most of their grilling dishes remain the same, they had Kodi roast, mutton tawa sheekh kebab, podi tossed idli, mirch masala murgh for festival and they were delicious (sans idli as I dint get to taste it). They also had Dosa counter which had options of Mutton , chicken and paneer kheema dosa and they haven't disapoointed in taste.
I have never liked biryani in any of the BBQ or Buffet places, but they have ensured to keep as authentic as possible (not sure if its only for festival or will be continued) and I really liked the perfect balance of flavors in mutton biryani.Their chiken sukka , chettinad chicken curry and veg korma will need a relook in terms of taste - as they dint seem to appease most of them on the table.
Thaen mittai - a popular dessert in south India, had a twist where they mixed this every child's fav sweet into cake along with tutty fruity and made it into Thaen mittai cheesecake. Elaneer payasam was more tangy and wasn't able to enjoy it much. Sweet pongal was a decent try. I'm sure everyone loves kulfi's from BBQ Nation and so do I - there's no new flavor for the festival, but who misses this beauty when you are here. While they definitely have to relook at most of their main course, this festival gives you those extra dishes from south India at the same price and few of the lot are stealers. Nov 12th is the last date for the festival - weekend is soon approaching, book your table and relax over...
