One of the finest Chinese Restaurants in Kolkata, Krystal Chopsticks is all ready to welcome their patrons with a brand new and upgraded menu this Puja. One of the oldest establishments in the city of Joy, this place being established in the year 1994, is still running strong with its mouthwatering food, homely ambiance and mindblowing flavours. Simple, humble and a place offering some of the finest Chinese and Indo-Chinese dishes, for those who haven’t been here, expect a modernism from the crystal/krystal, and simplicity of a chopstick.

The interior here is all red and white, with masks and paintings of Buddha, decked up in the walls adds a certain charm to this place. For uninitiated, Chinese food is often humble and simple, and is often characterized by the charred aroma of the wok. And so were the dishes we tried, all simple and humble, but creating a ripple of multitude of flavours within our mouth. We started off with a lovely Chicken Wanton Soup, a light broth soup with steamed Chicken wontons inside it. Some crispy and decadent Cantonese Roast Pork, tossed in a sweet and sour gravy with some fish sauce and wine.

We were bowled by the crispiness and flavours of the Golden Fried Squid; the squids being fresh, disappeared inside the mouth in just a single bite. For the maincourse, we paired a wonderful shredded lamb, done with green pepper and red chillies, a rather fiery dish, this could have only been paired with the subtleness of the Crab Meat Fried Rice. The Hoisin Fish was contrastingly light and sweet, the tangy and the sweet sauce, will make you even crave for more. Do not miss out on the Chilli Garlic Chicken or the Yamban Chicken, to be paired off with the Chicken Rice Noodles.

With more to offer, on the likes of Crab, Prawns, Duck and others, you can only imagine the endless varieties of dishes which you can savour here. Where is it? Located at Hindustan park, just opposite to the lane of Basanti devi college at Gariahat, this place can accommodate a good crowd at a time. While you don’t need to think much about the safety measures, you can enjoy delicious food at this cozy place.

Things to try out ? Chimney soup is definitely one of the most popular things you should try out when you are here , served inside a chimney, this contains lots of vegetables, shrimp , fish , egg and glass noodles. This dish is to shared among 4-5 people because the quantity is just massive.

Chilly prawns are another delicious starter that can’t be missed. It consists of big sized prawns coated in a batter, deep fried and finally tossed in some chilly sauce. They are crispy and has a kick of the spice.

Thread chicken on the other hand should be consumed hot , finely diced chicken coated and deep fried , should be eaten with some sauce.

Moving to the mains , we had chicken noodles, veg fried rice with shanghai chicken and Korean lamb. The Korean lamb was too sweet, so people with a spicier palate may not like the dish. This is one of the hidden gems of the city. Nestled amongst the busy Gariahat market, yet hidden away in a small alley or by lane near the Punjabi shops in Gariyahat. This might be a bit hard to find but once inside you will see beautiful chonese themed decor, with very soft lighting and dimly lit environment, takes your tiredness away and makes you calm.
