Tantra — Restaurant in Kolkata

Visited with friends yesterday. We were a gents only group and paid a cover charge of Rs. 1500 per person. We stayed there from 9:30 in the evening to 2:00 AM in the morning.

The place was deserted up to 10:30 pm..and then gradually the people started filling up and by midnight the pub was filled to the brim.

Drinks and food are costly as is expected. The atmosphere and ambience are good. The crowd is reasonably high-end. The acoustics are very poor so you will hate the music and the DJ. Even when they play good dance numbers.

You can pick-up ladies if you are looking for them. There are a few regulars and please ask the waiters nicely(and discreetly) and they will point them out to you.

The dance floor is small and cramped. And the bouncers and security have to be on their toes to ensure that the guests are not inconvenienced. Cannot blame them if they go rude at times. Because they are allowing all-male groups as well and the people on the dance floor are mostly sozzled, so they have to be alert so that the ladies or couples are not harassed.

Food preparation is good but they take a long time to deliver.

Please recheck the bills before paying and ask them clearly about what all things are included and excluded when you pay the cover charge.

They have a tendency to say that the cheaper drinks on the menu are not available and will push you to order costly liquor. We put our foot down and they had to bring what we insisted on.

The DJ who was playing when we visited (Disco Singh) was not able to enthuse the dancers. The mix was strictly so-so.

As per my friend's experience, Tantra used to be awesome at one time in the past when alternative options were limited. Now is just so meh. 'Some place else or Grid or even UG is much much better compared to Tantra. All of these places overcharge for food and drinks but the experience is certainly superior compared to Tantra.

If you don't drink and do not dance (like me) then there is nothing in this place for you except migraine inducing noise which they call...

Visited this place with my friends and had the worst club experience ever. They have a cover charge of 1500 per couple with unlimited Indian manufactured liquors with only 3 options - kingfisher premium beer, 100 pipers and BP till 11 pm.

Your first order will be taken very seriously and delivered with promptness with a bottle of mineral water but as the night progresses your experience gets worse.

With time they start delaying the orders. The orders take anywhere between 20-30 mins to deliver which makes the whole unlimited drinks a big sham. The waiters are trained to do this, one time when I asked the waiter to refill my drinks, he picked up our filled glasses from the table and placed it back. They just assume we are drunk and will not pay attention to them trying to cheat us. Also the next time when we asked the waiter to refill the drink, he took the order and disappeared and never came back. Saw him after almost 30 mins and when I asked where is my order he says it's already time and they won't serve but it still wasn't even 11 (have a pic of my watch to prove this).

When I asked them for the bill, the final bill was overpriced more than the amount on the menu and when questioned about it the waiter says that the menu is old and the prices have increased by 10%.

Platter cost on menu - 1200. Billed amount - 1384. Even if what he was saying was true 10% of 1200 is still not 1384.

This place is looting people when they are drunk. I'd suggest everyone to be very careful while going to this place. Please check your bill amount correctly and also the time limits and the waiters trying to cheat you and not serving you your order and disappearing so they don't have to...

The place is too small also the dance floor is too small. More problem is with the managment and staff. They have pople sitting all around the bar so its near to impossible to reach for order. Even if some how u reach there the music is too loud to ask something.Even if u do manage to order something the staff is so obnoxious they would not even listen or just ignore after listening.They seems to have some groups as friends and only listen to them or just ladies. People like us are no body to them. Utter stupid staff. It took me 30 mins to get just one pint of beer. The staff at bar is so obnoxious that they take ur order and dont give keep serving other and even if u call them they see but ignore. Worse place i have ever visited. Also the standard of people was not so good some group of guys keep starring at girls on dancing on the floor and even tried to somehow dance with them. Very bad management if they cant control the kind of crowed coming in. Only thing good was the lady at the entrance. She only helped me in last to get a beer. Overall a no go place for me in future and will also suggest people to kindly stay away from here total wast of money and...
