Home chef is a cafe which is located in Shivaji Park, Dadar. It's at a walking distance of 11 minutes (that's the best option out) from dadar station (Western railway one. Don't know about the central side). You have to walk past the sabzi mandi and walk straight towards shivaji park road. The cafe isn't very difficult to locate.
Once you enter the cafe, you'll have a very realistic feel to it. It isn't a very college type cafe but it's a place you would want to go if you've got your first salary and you don't want to blow it up your budget on alcohol. There is a wide cemented seating area which is just connected from one wall to the other and on the other side of the table there are wooden chairs. The table tops are basically 4 small tiles put together which is an innovative idea. Haven't seen anything like this anywhere else.
Now let's come to the main part: FOOD !! I had first ordered for a ice cream float cola and then an Oreo shake. The ice cream float was just perfect. The cola has the frizz and it had a scoop of vanilla ice cream inside (which is my favorite flavor in the usual ones). It was honestly a perfect blend. The last time I had an ice cream float was in McDonald's and to be honest I don't even remember how it tasted 🙈. Next I had the Oreo shake. It was served in a tall glass with a single Oreo biscuit side on the top. One can taste the Oreo mixed in the shake. However, for my taste the shake was a little thin. It might be because the ice was blended along with it to make it cold. I prefer shakes which are a little thick to taste. That's where the fun lies. Next I ordered kheema omelette and bhurji pav. The kheema omelette was served with two long breads with butter on it, a hash brown on top and baked beans on the side. I was very very impressed by the plating because I've never seen such a fancy plating in a cafe. The omelette was stuffed with cheese and between the omelette outside was the kheema cooked in Indian style. The entire dish was mouthwatering. I couldn't get enough of the kheema omelette with cheese. They gave the baked beans a little indian style tadka by cooking it in capsicum and tomatoes. The hash brown was superb and it was different. When I tasted the hash brown, it had a different taste. Either it was baked or it was cooked in an air fryer. Really appreciate the diversity. Next up was my bhurji pav. The plating was the same except the omelette was replaced by anda bhurji. Oh my god (Janice style for those of you who follow FRIENDS), the bhurji was cooked in perfect street style. I was damn impressed and I just couldn't get enough of it. I wanted to order it again and again. It was so amazing. This is surely a must try from my end.
I concluded the visit by ordering plain garlic bread and Aglio Olio pasta (spaghetti). The garlic bread was the long bread which was served in the dishes I had previously ordered. Don't get confused that the bread which was served to me was garlic bread. It was a normal bread only. Only this time the bread was infused with garlic flavor. The bread tasted nice and had a very subtle flavor of garlic which I liked. It wasn't overpowering in the mouth. Good way of baking it. Next up was the Aglio Olio spaghetti. It was cooked to perfection. They have both veg and non veg options. I had ordered the non veg one. It was served in a pan dish to me and had loads of chicken and chilli flakes. Even though I can't eat spicy food, this is one dish I couldn't resist. I wish I could pack it all up and take it home.
All in whole my experience in this small cafe was nice and pleasant. Oh btw, when you go to the washroom, don't forget to notice the quirky signs inside and outside the washroom. This place is...
Read moreHomeChef - All day dining is one of the finest places to visit in Dadar . The ambience was straight up fantastic. Loved the lighting. The sign of their glass door that read " you're better off inside" was really innovative. They have a part of their restaurant alloted to showcase their desserts that are pure eye candy to look at . The staff is really kind especially mr Desai , was really polite . They even have some really nice offers going on . For instance if you pay using RuPay you get a flat 25% discount. They even have 1+1 offers on sandwiches , starters , burgers and pizzas in their happy hours (4pm to 7pm) . I tried the following:
Beverages :
Mojito Mandarin : this beverage was extremely refreshing. It was a delightful affair of orange juice combined with mint and ice . The flavours were beautiful and lovely.
Seasonal Fruit Shake : This changes season to season as the name suggests . So as of now it is the strawberry milkshake .The presentation of this dish was excellent . This milkshake was perfectly balanced . It was nice and thick the way a milkshake should be . The flavour of fresh strawberries simply won my heart .
Starters/ quick bites :
Crsipy Chicken : this was not your ordinary chicken crispy that you would eat in a normal restaurant . This was KFC style chicken served with sauce . The dish certainly lived up to its name . Crisp and delicious the way every chicken crispy dish should be .
Fish Fingers: The best fingers I have ever had . The fish used the Basa . Cooked to perfection . Cooking seafood is a very tedious task , Overcooking fish is something that can happen really easily . The chef simply did a phenomenal job .
Main course :
Surf and Turf: a catchy name and a soul satisfying dish . What exactly is this? A combination of grilled chicken skewers, chicken sausage, fish fillet , mashed corn potato , herbed prawns, few veggies and pepper sauce . As it can be seen , this dish had alot of elements . When you have these elements usually making out all the elements shine is really hard , something that they accomplished. Everything was really well cooked . The presentation bof this dish was spot on too. This was hands down my favourite dish of the night.
Prawns A La Queen : This dish was prawns served in a creamy white wine sauce with added mushrooms and peppers. It even had herbed rich , fries on the side. The prawns were well cooked and the white sauce just made them even more scrumptious. The added mushrooms and peppers also paired will in enhancing the flavour of the dish .
Desserts :
Blueberry cheesecake : it looked super elegant . It was rich in flavour and every bite of it was heavenly . Delightfully rich and spectacular is what best describes this dish .
Bake cheese pastry : a plain cheesecake that is enough to make you fall in love with its flavour. The creamy taste won't fail to win your heart for sure.
Also , they have some fantastic deals on dishes everyday like for instance on Monday when you buy 1 main course you get another one absolutely for free.
All in all this place didn't disappoint me even in the slightest way. A must visit place if you are visiting dadar . Trust me you...
