Navigating Mumbai's labyrinthine streets, I finally stumbled upon the unassuming facade of Nav Mejwani in Dadar West. Little did I know, this hidden gem was about to take me on an epicurean voyage through the depths of the ocean. Buckle up, fellow Zomato adventurers, because we're diving into a seafood feast!

Bharlele Pomfret: The star of the show, hands down. This majestic pomfret, plump and glistening, was expertly stuffed with a fragrant masala that whispered of coconut, tamarind, and chili. Each bite was an explosion of flavors, the perfectly cooked fish yielding to the aromatic stuffing. A true masterpiece!

Prawns Rawa Fry: These little crustacean jewels, lightly coated in a rawa batter, were as addictive as they were delicious. The prawns sang with a crisp crunch on the outside, while the flesh remained juicy and delicate within. Dipped in the accompanying mint chutney, they were a symphony of fresh and spicy notes.

Chicken Lasooni Kebab: Now, I know what you're thinking โ€“ seafood in a review titled "Ode to the Ocean"? Fear not, landlubbers! This chicken kebab, marinated in a symphony of garlic and ginger, was a welcome detour. Each succulent piece packed a powerful punch of flavor, a testament to the skill of the chef's hand.

Surmai Thali: A complete voyage in itself, this thali was a kaleidoscope of textures and tastes. The surmai fry, boasting a golden tan, flaked beautifully, revealing a moist and flavorful interior. The accompanying solkadi, a coconut-based curry, was a soothing counterpoint.

Chulivarche Mutton Thali: For the landlubbers in the audience, this mutton thali was a carnivore's paradise. The mutton, slow-cooked to melt-in-your-mouth tenderness, carried the smoky whispers of the stovetop fire. The accompanying bhakri, a flatbread cooked on a tava, was the perfect vessel for scooping up this rich and flavorful stew.

Gulacha Kharvas: And to end our odyssey on a sweet note, the Gulacha Kharvas arrived. This rosewater-scented milk pudding, dotted with glistening almonds and pistachios, was a delicate finale. The perfect blend of creamy sweetness and floral fragrance left me wanting more.

Final Verdict: Nav Mejwani is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience. The food is a testament to tradition and skill, bursting with fresh flavors and cooked with love. The service is warm and attentive, and the atmosphere, while simple, exudes a certain maritime charm.

P.S : This review is based on my personal experience and taste preferences.

Malvani food is loved by true Mumbaikar. If you want to have pure Malvani cuisine please do check the new place Nav Mejwani in Dadar. The place is a family restaurant with a fine dining touch to it. The decor is simple yet classy. The staff here are very quick with their service and they will suggest the best suggestions and will tell you the exact details about the dish so first time visitors you are going to fall in love with this place.

I decided to try this place because I am crazy for seafood and this newly opened restaurant in Dadar West serves the best seafood. ๐Ÿคค But not only non-veg they also prioritise the taste of their vegetarian dishes, which is such a great thing.

I visited it at 7:00 p.m. and oh my God! By the time I left the restaurant it was completely full and there was families waiting outside. Can you believe?!

Also keep in mind that the restaurant is functional from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the morning / afternoon and from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the evening. The rush hours are from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the morning / afternoon and from 8:30 p.m. to to 11 p.m. in the evening. So plan your visit accordingly as you might have to wait outside but THE WAIT IS WORTH IT! ๐Ÿ’ฏ

I and one of my friend visited but we got a bunch of stuff which by the way was very much feeling so I got some parceled as well. I got the thalis parcel and I will talk about it at the end.

The staff was courteous and friendly, the owner was kind and helpful. He helped me with all the information about the restaurant and talking to him was a pleasant meet.

The ambience gives a nice homely yet restaurant vibe, like your home but better kinda vibes. The music was soothing and not too loud.

I especially liked all the small elements that they have added in the restaurant like Bhatukli etc. I quite liked the overall ambience.

Now about the FOOD. โค๏ธ

I tried -

Drinks (Non-alcoholic)

KAIRI PANHA. Made me think of my grandmother because she makes it every summer.

KOKAM SODA. Felt quite refreshing after a lot of walking I did at Shivaji Park.

Starters

BHARLELA PAPLET (PROMFERT) WITH PRAWNS. ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿฆ I like Promfert and Prawns individually but trying it together and that too in this form was quite an experience. I like how they are perfectly blended together and the spices ๐Ÿคค you should try it out yourself.

CRAB MASALA ๐Ÿฆ€ I am a sucker for crabs and I knew that I was going to order something crab when I saw this on the menu. The masala was so bomb that I got some parceled. They give a crab cutter which by the way I did not use because I know how to eat crabs but if you don't have any clue about it or if you don't want to be messy, they will help you.

Main Course.

CHULIVARCHI (EARTHEN STOVE) CHICKEN THALI. ๐Ÿ“

CHULIVARCHI MUTTON THALI. ๐Ÿ

The thali has Chicken / Mutton / whatever you order, Solkadi, Chutneys, Salad, Rice, Chapati / Bhakri / Wade. The quantity of the thali is huge and the smoky taste was truly a delicious treat to our taste buds. I didn't eat mutton so I can't comment on that but my mother said it was nice.

Desserts.

MANGO KHARVAS. ๐Ÿฅญ If there is one thing that screams my name then that is the Mango Kharvas. I loveddd the taste and it felt like I was literally having Hapoos Amba.

UKDICHE MODAK. ๐ŸฅŸ The เคšเคต (inside stuffing of modak) was nicely made. I didn't have Modak much because I ordered...

Yesterday I visited the restaurant, and I must say the worst staff ever , the worst service, food was good , good interior but but the staff is highly unprofessional. When we enter at 9.30pm hardly there were 4-5 tables busy , still after entering, we got water after 5mins , then 5-8 mins one staff came with the menu card , after some while he took the order , order came after 15 min ( which is not usual as compared to other resturants) Once the order was served, not single staff (among 6-7) was on the table to check if we needed somthing ! I mean this .. unprofessionalism? And just behind our table there was a family enjoying their dinner found one of them staff known . So they was have conversation, then after I notice the staff is coming every 5 min to check on the table like how is the food? ! Did you liked that , etc . We was about to leave and and to make it clear none of them come ! After we finished our dinner we eated with our hands and so we were sitting with the same , then i called the person (the one who was talking to family behind our table ) he ignored and went and then told the another staff to check with us ! And I actually saw that . Can you imagine!!!!!?? The the person comes , I told him to get 3 solakadi, bill and bowl wash . He vanished after that . And we are sitting on the table with our eating hands getting dry . Then finally the solakadi came. I asked the person do we have service like per table per staff he smiled and went i mean what was that! . Then I called him asked to get the manage . He went and told the person( idt the one who came was manager ) still I asked him have we made a mistake to come here and get this service! ( And guys still the bill and hoil wash is not on the table) you would definitely notice the no of staff came and no one noticed our hands ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜† imagine the patience levels we have . And finally the person come who was talking to the family . I asked him the same question about per person table , you won't guess .. he replied me instead of apology that the family is his relative! I and started laughing and told whoever they might I don't care . I was not treated here right get the manager right now! . Then he started his apologize with a Daya wala face ! We just paid and leave. And I decided this should be known ! And I should review my experience, as many of you might are visiting the restaurant after watching the reel. I would don't ever visit there. Worst ......

Yesterday I visited this Malvani Restaurant located at the bylanes of Gokhale Road at Dadar. Its a casual dining restaurant serving Seafood, Maharashtrian, Malvani, Mughlai and lots more. AMBIENCE- Ambience is pretty Subtle and Classy with Dim lights, dining area and a super comfortable Lounge. The whole Ambience has pleasant dining atmosphere with slow music. They have a seperate Private Dining area as well. You get nice fish aroma once you enter the restaurant and the decor depits Kokani Environment with small vessel showpieces. STAFF & SERVICE- The service staff is well mannered, kind and courteous. The one looking after our table was attentive too. They maintained the calm environment with prompt service and ensured our best dining experience. Totally Satisfied with the service. FOOD- No doubt the food is perfect in taste, quality as well as quantity. Each dish we ordered was up to the mark and had its authenticity and we truely liked everything that we ordered. OUR ORDERS- We visited during the lunch time and ordered the following- BEVERAGES- MASALA TAAK - Perfect consistency and super refreshing. KOKAM SODA - Sweet, refreshing and accompanied well with the food we ordered. KAIRI PANNA - Had an authentic kairi flavour, sweet in taste. STARTERS- BHARLELA POMFRET (PRAWNS) - Big Pomfret stuffed with prawns masala, it tastes delicious and is fried to perfection. PRAWNS KOLIWADA - Tiger Prawns well marinated and perfectly fried. It's super tasty. 1 plate contains around 12 - 14 prawns. MAIN COURSE- PRAWNS THALI - Had Prawns Masala, Prawns fry, Solkadi, Gravy, Kismoor, Rice, Salad, Bhakri and Chutney. Prawns masala tastes best with bhakri. The thali is fulfilling per person. POMFRET THALI - Big Pomfret fry served with bhakri, Kismoor, chutney, Solkadi, rice, gravy and salad. The fried pomfret is too good here and the Solkadi was a treat after the whole meal. DESSERTS - MANGO KHARVAS & KHOBRYACHA KHARVAS - Both the Kharvas we ordered had a smooth, melt in mouth texture with their respective flavours. I loved the Coconut Kharvas, it's worth the try. Overall it was an awesome experience. The staff is generous and friendly. Its a family, and friends dining place where you can chill, watch with amazing Non veg food and drinks. They followed all the safety protocols and social distancing. I would suggest one to visit here at least once for an amazing fine dining experience.

------------------------------------------ Malvani food is loved by true Mumbaikar. What we had Kairiche Panhe Kokum Sarbat Bombil Fry Surmai Tawa Fry Ponfret Thali Walache Birde Thali Ukadiche Modak I would recommend this place for family gatherings. Food : 4.5/5 Ambience : 5/5 Decor : 5/5 P.S : The review is strictly depending on my personal experience.

๐Ÿ’ฏ I and one of my friend visited but we got a bunch of stuff which by the way was very much feeling so I got some parceled as well. โค๏ธ I tried - Drinks (Non-alcoholic) KAIRI PANHA. Made me think of my grandmother because she makes it every summer. KOKAM SODA. Felt quite refreshing after a lot of walking I did at Shivaji Park. Starters BHARLELA PAPLET (PROMFERT) WITH PRAWNS. ๐Ÿ“ CHULIVARCHI MUTTON THALI. ๐Ÿ The thali has Chicken / Mutton / whatever you order, Solkadi, Chutneys, Salad, Rice, Chapati / Bhakri / Wade. I didn't have Modak much because I ordered another Kharvas. ๐Ÿ˜…
