Channeling The Inner Zen
True to its name, Zen Cafe is home for those seeking solitude and wholesome food. Located right above a sprawling furniture store, Zen Cafe is a hidden gem in Raghuvanshi Mill Compound.
Its charm lies in the quiet, elegant ambience teamed up with healthy, delicious food! The servers are extremely courteous and guide you through the limited menu options. While you may not be spoiled for choice, each dish is carefully crafted in order to soothe your palate.
Currently, I’m on a health spree and decided to pick a combination of healthy and ‘cheat’ food options. Here’s what I tried:
Zen Platter This is what I call the dream platter! A foot long platter consisting of everything right from soft quesadillas to crunchy nacho chips, from a tangy, spicy salsa dip to a hummus, pesto and goat cheese dip, this platter tops my list of “Dishes Worth Trying.”
Zen Tea Although I was warned by the server that it will be bitter, I was pleasantly surprised by the mild yet soothing texture of this tea. A perfect accompaniment for a large meal, I’d definitely recommend this tea for anyone looking for a drink devoid of sugar and rich in antioxidants.
Avocado Sushi Roll One can’t possibly go wrong with a dish that contains avocado. This sushi roll definitely did not disappoint with its tender yet sumptuous filling of avocado. However, what really stood out was the dollop of Wasabi which had a mighty sting. That really added the extra zing!
Soba Noodle Salad with Microgreens & Tofu Nothing spells wholesome like a big bowl of salad. This Soba Noodle Salad puts an end to any unhealthy craving that one might have. With a combination of well cooked wheat noodles, multiple green veggies, roasted peanuts, sesame seeds, and a hint of vinegar dressing, this salad was an absolute winner for me!
Ricotta Ravioli in Pink Sauce While I’m not a big fan of Ravioli, this preparation changed my perception of it. Bite sized Ravioli stuffed with fresh ricotta and glazed with pink sauce, this is a cheat meal for champions!
While all the dishes were lovely, the only area of improvement would be the portion sizes which were far too small.
Whether you’re craving a nutritious meal or hoping to catch up with old friends in a calm environment, Zen Cafe is the...
Read moreStumbled across this place as I was walking around Kala Ghoda and what an excellent find! I was looking for a place with good coffee and a place to read and I was impressed beyond my expectations. Let's start with the food: The coffee is absolutely excellently prepared. During my first visit, I cautiously ordered a mocha and asked for it to be properly hot (you know how any steamed milk drink tend to be lukewarm always) and was very very impressed with the attention to detail and the flavour. I then decided to order a grilled cheese (again, tentatively and because I was hungry but wanted something 'safe' and hard to mess up) and MAN was it DELISH!! I had the capers, sundried tomato and arugula sourdough grilled cheese and it was just absolutely excellent. The attention to detail in prep carried over in the sandwich as well.
Now to the ambience and service. Besides covid protocols (which are table stakes now) this place has a very clean and calming feel. Very nice ambient music and the seated spaces are all comfy enough to work from or sink into for a chat / to read.
The service is also impeccable. The touchless QR code ordering is super easy and Sameer helped me with anything I needed over the lengthy time I was there, reading and working. Overall, a very nice experience. I hope this place doesn't get too crowded!...
Read moreThis used to be a place which was great. But realised that's the case only if you go once in a while and not for working per say. I'm an individual who does work from home and regularly visits work cafes. I'd frequented this place on few occasions and liked the place initially, also urged my friends to come and work from their cafe. But after a few visits it's almost like they don't care about us in the capacity of customers anymore and the way they treat regulars is really disrespectful. Especially one of their main servers. Literally no courtesy towards customer. They kept on asking us to shift tables on multiple occasions because they wanted to free our tables, turned off the lights way before closing time also weirdly kept on staring and what not. If the place is not a work cafe on weekends then put that notice out, having your customers shift from table to table is literally so amateur. Also the weird stares that are passed by the servers all the time is rude.
On every visit to the cafe I've spent more than Rs. 800+ . And even if I hadn't they have no right to treat customers this way. If its not a work cafe then don't claim for it to be one, and if it is, treat everyone decently. People are paying for sitting and working their in form of...
