Kala Ghoda has to be one of my favourite places in town thanks to it being the nexus of the art scene & the numerous buildings of historical gravitas. When I heard that there was this once place at Kala Ghoda, next to famed Rhythm House that had lovely food & an eccentric vibe, I thought no further & concocted a plan for lunch, having the best of times in the process! 😌😍 Food- 🚩145 Kala Ghoda is a café/bar/fine dine establishment right at the corner of Kala Ghoda circle. Given that we drove a considerable distance in killin’ heat, I started off with an excellent 🥭🍹 ‘Mango Freakshake’: a seasonal special which was literally loaded to the brim with fresh mangoes, cream & chocolate-Highly recommend ‘Animal Style Fries’: cheesy fries 🍟 loaded with various sauces, served creatively on a heavy slab of marble. My only complaint for the otherwise perfect fries would be that quantity, which was a lot even for 2 people! 🤯 ‘Greek Style Pizza’, a thin crust wonder loaded with veggies which was great, being neither over filling nor spicy 🍕🙌 'Korean Bun' was fresh & stuffed, something you should consider 🥖👍 ‘Paneer Biryani’ was served in a cute little pot along & some raita, with the masala being hidden a storey below 🍚🍛 I topped of my lunch with some lovely ‘Watermelon Mojito’ which was needed in this smouldering heat! 🍹🍷
I was glad to find an expansive veg menu. They also have an active bar counter with a wide variety of spirits. The café section was in the secondary hall but was empty due to it being noon. The seasonal menu seemed pretty interesting & had a lot of mango based options. The staff, though busy as bees, were courteous & one will certainly have a pleasant dining experience 😃✅ The rates are rather reasonable given the quantity & quality of the food served as well as the amazing location & interiors 😌👍
Location & Vibe- 🚩The place is at the corner that turns into the iconic Kala Ghoda locality: opposite to Watson Hotel, adjacent to the Rhythm house & the famous black horse standing tall insight. The entrance is easily to miss given it being tightly packed. The stairs leading to the restaurant are antique with the walls having a starry & ominous feel to it: essentially a fun or scary trip depending on you 😳😮 There is a fun & funky lift between the ground and first floors as well. The dark vibes are cast away once stepping into the main hall. The multiple glass partitions give the place a kaleidoscopic effect 🤩😍 There are multiple seating options with the ‘red booth’ being a vibe. A bar counter is available on both side of a wall that separated the main hall & the café section. Kala Ghoda’s artistic influence is evident with the place adorning a tone of abstract elements all around. One must visit only to witness the same cuz its amazing! 🙌✨ The smoking section is a long glass house balcony that runs parallel to the halls, providing the best views of the iconic street outside 💯 It sure was a treat to watch all the colourful buildings beaming with history through these small windows 😌 Even the men’s restroom is a portal of its own! 😮 🅿️ Parking is ample, though tight given the location. Though they offer valet parking, you mostly will end up paying for municipality ones. I was surprised to find the place rather active during a weekday at noon. The place does turning into a vibrant bar/dance floor in the evenings & that’s when most patrons would be found.
Verdict- This place was a revelation for me as I had passed by multiple times being completely oblivious to its existence. The vibe is to die for, especially the artistic elements in the property, which was a treat to my eyes. This is a ‘Must Visit’ & ‘Highly Recommended’ from me! 💯✅😃

Read moreThe very best restaurant in South Bombay which needs no introduction also serves yummylicious food, had pleasant ambience and is very well known for its unique freakshakes. It's bar area is quite picturesque as it has different types & shapes of vessels on the ceiling. It also has pool but you need to pay for that.
This place is quite huge. It is divided into three parts - Two with separate bar section and third is for private dining. The first thing you notice after entering was their handcrafted chandelier.
The staff is well trained and versed with the menu. They are very friendly and helpful. Also special thanks to Mr Jack George (Captain) & his team whom we was extremely helpful and took care of our table really well.
Now talking about the Food & Drinks
Started of with Cocktails & Starters
Cucumber & basil martini: - Fresh Cucumber Juice with a dash of Muddled basil blended with Vodka served in Martini Glass Simple and smooth at taste! Absolute soulful and refreshing.
Japanese Dunkel; - Rum blended with Japanese Lemon juice with Elderflower extract topped with Beer was Okayish in taste
Pav bhaji cones: Four pieces in one serving. Soft cones filled in with Delicious mumbaiya bhaji topped with cheese and coriander.
Beetroot hummus with Pita bread: - An addition to their newly launched summer menu under Hummus Bowls. The ingredients used in it made me curious about the taste. The hummus served here was a perfect blend of chickpeas & BeetRoot topped with sesame seeds & Olive Oil. The pita bread served along was fresh and rightly made. The Hummus had such amazing consistency and taste. It was so delicious that I liked soo much & beyond expectation.
After having Delicious Drinks & Lipsmacking Starters, i wanted to try for Dessert for which is well known here, so skipping the main course we tried different desserts.
Starting of with a Signature note of
Tiramisu: - Your visit to 145 is incomplete if you miss out on this heavenly house favourite dessert. Sinfully soft cake and that sweet and bitter combination of coffee with cream.
Cookie Dough Pizza with nutella & ice cream :- Now after having the delicious Tiramisu I wanted to have another dessert. I thought a nice and simple pudding should suffice, but George suggested us to try the COOKIE DOUGH NUTELLA PIZZA. The name itself was enough to made us wonder about its size, but then after he assured that its a very good dessert and its a small 6 inch pizza, Within a few minutes it was on out table, and again it looked beautiful! Served on a very heavy marble plate, which is decorated with coffee dust and has the '145' trademark as well. The pizza was small and cute, with a nice scoop on vanilla ice cream sitting at the centre while it was topped with hot chocolate sauce. The preparation is simple and delicious. As the name suggests, the pizza base is made up of rich cookie dough, you every single bite tastes of having a cookie with yummy nutella spread and chilled ice cream on top! Its a highly recommended dessert, simply amazing!
Freak shake
Strawberry cheese cake :- This shake looked mesmerizing and heavenly. And I gotta tell you, this right here is nostalgia in a glass.A strawberry shake which has a perfect amount of sweetness, toppped with lots of fresh whipped cream, Lollipop and candies. Totally recommendable!
Mint chocolate chip :- Great presentation and completely Instagrammable. However, the shake wasn't extraordinary and it was rather too sweet. One person can definitely not finish this entire freakshake.
Their cocktails are great, we tried a few and truly enjoyed them. Food has been as delicious as always All the Desserts were class apart and service hands on! There is no reason as to why you shouldn't be visiting them. Do try out their summer menu.
thank you 145 Kala Ghoda for...
