The most overrated and overpriced biriyani place in CP for sure! So I took my family for a lunch at biriyani by kilo and mind you we have had a fair share of various biriyanis over the years(biriyani connoisseur if you will). Let me start with the climb: 2 flights of stairs perhaps helps work up an appetite. The seating capacity is limited so your tables will be close to others (a welcome for eavesdroppers and privacy invaders). There was just one attendant lady who was catering to all the tables and looked clearly overwhelmed. The manager split his time between periodically checking the tables, attending at the entrance and looking after swiggy orders. We were 3 members and ordered a Lucknawi and Kolkata biriyani (1/2 kilo) It took 35 MINUTES for the order to reach our table. If we had swiggy'ed(time for a new verb) it that would have reached us faster. Yet we waited patiently and managed to nibble into couple of Lijjat paapads they presented prior to the order. LOOONG WAIT TIME! If you are on a tight schedule the dine in is definitely not for you..the attendant had suggested we try a starter and so we zeroed in on the chicken sheek kebab which was again quite dismal and reached 25 minutes later almost defeating the purpose of a starter.. Cut to the biriyanis. We first dug into the Lucknawi biriyani 4 small chicken pieces. Pretty bland except the overpowering taste of rose water and kesar. We thought probably the Kolkata biriyani will win us over and ingest some other flavour into our tastebuds. Alas it was the exact same flavour same overdone and a little sticky rice (some of the rice was stick inside the Haandi in which they serve and you'd have to scrape it off) with the only 3 changes: 2 medium pieces of chicken, 1 large boiled potato and 1boiled egg. Inspite of calling the manager and the attendant to our table they didn't bother to come as they were too busy serving other orders and guests and of course swiggy guys. So finally I asked a waiter who served us both the biriyanis why both biriyanis tasted the same. And he replied the biriyani is same the only change is that in one you get 4 pieces of chicken and in another 2+a potato+1 egg. Can it get any more PREPOSTEROUS than that.. on the other hand maybe that's why they both cost the same too(400something). After this there was only one thing left to do; head towards exit, after paying the bill of course. There again it took another 10 minutes and a little tense conversation with the manager and the attendant for the bill to reach us. Short story long...1 out of 10 stars but since the limit of stars is 5 in here, technically it should be 0.5...

I have been to Biryani By Kilo in CP yesterday to satisfy my biryani taste buds this outlet is located in N Block while i was entering this restaurant i was under impression it will be a casual fine dinning restaurant but to my surprise it was something unique, royal, magical and memorable.
Let me talk about ambience whole place was magically lit with dim warm lights, you will fell in love with the decor which resembles royal vintage India to reach main hall way one passes through a gallery of vintage artifacts, handicrafts and royalty. I find this place turned into a theme restaurant to give royal taste of real indian Biryani while sitting in such an exquisite ambience. Ceiling of this place was tomb shaped wall were decorated like walls of vintage forts.
We ordered Boneless chicken Biryani, chicken seekh Kabab and phirni in the end we were told that order will take 25-30 minutes as for every order they prepare fresh dum biryani now this increases our cravings. But they will not let you sit idle they served masala papad with mint chutney to increase your appetite.
After 20 minutes our biryani was served in a hot clay handi sealed properly so that we could enjoy that fresh aroma once its opened i just loved their presentation, service and the way food was served in royal traditional style.
Lets talk about taste i have to biryani blues, behrouz biryani & nazeer by far its the best a perfect blend of 2 years old basmati rice, indian spices and tender juicy boneless chicken served in a handi which enhanced its taste further. Biryani was amazingly flavourful i wanted to have one more handi but could not wait for another 25 minutes. We also tried chicken kabab served with onion rings and mint chutney.
In the end we ordered phirni its a sweet dish made up of rice, milk and dry fruits to complete our quest for soul satisfying biryani. Only reason i am giving this place 4 star is because of the staff this brand is trying to give you exquisite experience but i could not feel the same courtesy in the staff. Rest it was best biryani...
Read moreBiryani By Kilo definitely has good biryanis but they really struggle in the restaurant and hospitality space.
All in all an absolutely wasteful and frustrating dining experience. I would have given a 1 star rating, save for the tasty food.
Really don't recommend anyone to go there. It is over-rated and not at all fine...
