Unfortunately we had a very disheartening experience at this restaurant and would never recommend anyone personally to try this place. It was our first dinner in pondicherry and we were excited to try some sea food. The restaurant on first looks is small but the ambience is decent and bright. The waiters are not at all trained or have basic etiquettes. First the waiter that took our order could only understand Tamil probably but anyhow he gave a thumbs up and said he understood our order. The first incident we get crab lolipops on our table, which we never ordered, so we try to tell him we didn't order this, so another waiter comes over and says sorry I can speak Hindi and English, maybe he didn't understand and took the order away saying we'll get your prawns.
Now as we are sipping on our fresh lime sodas. This new waiter grabs our prawns starter (~400rs) from the kitchen window, and while walking towards our table sneezes loudly on the food, and sneezes again back to back. I was so disgusted looking at it, and just wanted to leave. But since we were new to the place and super hungry after all the travelling, we didn't want to create a scene, so we just kept it on our table, we wanted to leave but time was 9.30 and almost everything shuts by 10pm on weekdays. So we were like let's wait for the main course. Fortunately this time he didn't sneeze on our food and bought both the dishes to the table.
The food tasted very good. We enjoyed the jeera rice and tamarind fish curry, probably one of the best fish curries I've tried. The food was the saving grace. We were still disgusted, we ate in a hurry, kept the prawn dish on the table as it is and just paid the...
Read moreFood was overcooked, otherwise nice. We had the seafood platter (which was a seafood sizzler), with garlic crab as a starter. The crab was pointless. It was so small that it was just shell. After we’d finished I went to find the wash room as needed the toilet and to wash my hands. I was escorted to the toilet by the gentleman that had been serving us that evening. Upon arriving by the door, I wasn’t sure if it was it, so I double checked with the lady sitting down who gestured to go into the toilet. I then tried to open the door and had no luck. To which I returned to the lady and she ushered for me to go back to the toilet. After doing so I pushed a little harder and the door opened appearing a man on the toilet. I quickly said “sorry” closed the door and hastened off. After washing my hands in another sink I walked back to my table and was greeted by an angry man behind me shouting at me. He was very rude and insisted I was treating him and his country wrong- as I am from another country. He raised his voice at me for about a minute whilst I was trying to calm him down. I apologised profusely to- no avail. This man then tried playing the “ I own this place” card and stormed off. We paid and left at the moment. Will not be going back. I was blamed for opening that door when told to by two...
Read moreWhere do I begin! We were scouting the city for the perfect lobster and after a lot of hunting, we narrowed it down to De Bluefin! The ambience was mellow and comforting! We decided on the huge sea food platter and the coastal lobster! What started as one, became two, became three! We could not stop for the food was toooooo good! My fam who had never tried lobster before is certain that is what they will be ordering for the table hereafter! The Shrimp Biryani was out of the world! I even requested some off the menu items and the staff politely obliged! We walked in late and walked out even later but not a fuss from the staff!! If I could, I'd eat here everyday! The chef came and said hi to us! If you're in Pondy, go here for lunch and dinner and repeat it till you're there!
We drove all the way from Chennai again just have lunch here, again this weekend! We called Manoj and reserved a few lobsters way ahead! Manoj promptly did the same and this time we decided not to share food so went for individual platters. Absolutely worth it! As usual ordered coastal lobsters for the sides and took home some prawn biryani! The craving is real! Can't wait to...
