I happened to meet-up my cousin just by chance and at lunch time. Both were hungry & famished and were looking for a respite from the sun breathing down our necks.
Having eaten at most restaurants, I didn’t want to repeat any. This restaurant had started business after my last visit hence we turned our attention here. Since it was a known brand, there was no question of having a doubt about its offerings.
Buttermilk was the coolant in this high temperature season & was gulped down first. In their own chain of restaurants, they serve buttermilk in bottles that resemble beer bottles but because this outlet is located in a shopping mall, they serve it here in use & thrown plastic bottles. The buttermilk is creamy and thick almost a toned down version of the lassi. It was slightly sour but not too much. Add salt and the jeera powder, you are set to go and consume all of the 500 ml of buttermilk.
Sev Tomato is the specialty of this restaurant. Thick pieces of sev are crushed and added to a tomato gravy veggie. The tomato gravy is cooked with fried onions and made a bit sweet on purpose. It’s a wonderful combination.
Dal Tadka that is served here is like one you have never had anywhere before. Looking at the way it is served, you will find it hard to believe that it’s Dal Tadka unless it is specifically told or you dip a spoon into the container. Plain dal is topped with a generous tadka of fried brown onions. The quantity of the tadka is so much that it almost forms a layer over the dal. They use a generous quantity of onions so much so that one has to put in some effort to stir the spoon in the container. It’s a bit loaded with butter and hence may tick off the health quotient but full marks on the taste quotient.
Jeera rice was nice but nothing very special. I ate as an accompaniment to the Dal Tadka.
Special chapattis are very soft, dabbed with butter and folded in a very different way.
All of the above cost Rs.470 which is good price to pay for a sumptuous meal. I found the al-a-carte to be more economical than the Thali lunch that they serve but that’s only in case you are two or more than two.

Read moreOrdered paneer butter Masala Today which is kind of a staple order wherever paneer is involved.
Issue: the dish delivered had paneer in yellow gravy which by any standards is not a paneer butter masala gravy.
In any restaurant if you order this item it never has a yellow gravy.
Actions: On complaining the shop manager threatened me to post this on google review and that he cannot do anything in this matter as he only sells yellow gravy items. This argument is un ethical and non convincing as no where in the world I have eaten this item in yellow gravy. On argument he says I should have ordered this item stating I want it in red gravy 😀.
Pls note I have ordered and consumed this dish many times before at same location. And found gravy to be red or brown in color.
Bhagat tarachand has expanded in recent months however it should concentrate on food quality and customer satisfaction. YOU have LOST loyal customer of 40 years.
Manager is very arrogant and does not care of customers. He was blunt in saying go and post review wherever you like this is...
Read moreWe ordered the Veg Hyderabadi Biryani and the Tawa Pulao Both of them came with raita, papad, onion and pickles The order does take over 15-20 minutes usually but the taste is definitely worth it. The rice is good quality, not very fragrant on its own. It had vegetables aplenty and the paneer was very soft as well. They do tend remarkably under salt their main dishes though. It might be to keep it inclusive for everyone, but if you can, ask for salt on the side. Since I prefer to eat the Biryani/Pulao with the raita, it helped balance out for me, since I found the raita a tad on the saltier side personally. The quantity is considerably good and filling. There isn't much outstanding about the food, but it's well done. Again, I think they keep the seasoning low so that it can be a crowd-pleaser. It cost around 450-500 for both...
