Dulang Kafe Kuta Square — Restaurant in Kuta

Restaurant has beautiful decor and lovely setting not too far away from beach and shopping centre.

Prices seemed reasonable for what was on offer and average mid price compared to other restaurants in the area.

Food quality was ok. Indonesian dishes were generous in quantity and slightly above average in quality.

Service however was what has let this restaurant down. We were left waiting to be seated for around 10 minutes. Once placed it took another 10-15 minutes for our order to be placed. Drinks came through fast. However the starters took 30-40 minutes. As 2 of us received our starters they decided to tell our 3rd person his starter had sold out. About 20 minutes after we had our starter. The main dishes arrived. Our friend still did not have his starter and had to prompt the waiter saying we were still missing one. As well as the rice for one of the main meals.

All of this time the waiting staff were taking orders down on napkins and delivering food to the wrong tables. After looking around a displeased restaurant with many others sat waiting for their food and/ or drinks we could see we weren't the only ones.

I think we just had bad luck at this place. We had very high expectations due to the number of positive reviews and it generally looked busy each time we’d walk past. Unfortunately, the chicken satay covered in peanut sauce as part of our main dish contained soap/liquid in the sauce which was inedible. We involuntarily spat out the chicken as soon as it entered our mouths and were left extremely disappointed at this occurrence as we hadn’t eaten much throughout the day to allow for an appetite at this place. Both meals had to be sent back and the waiter also apologised after agreeing there was soap in the dish. I’m not sure how this could have even happened??!! It was quite disgusting and left a bitter taste in our mouths. We felt extremely sick after this encounter, not only for the rest of the evening but the following days. In addition, prior to this encounter we had decided to order the ‘a little bit of everything’ starter for 145K. It was not bad as it allowed us to try a bit of everything but would recommend just choosing 3 starters of choice as this would be the same price 150K and hold more quantity...

Went for a birthday dinner , when we arrived there was 2 or 3 other tables taken. Staff where friendly and sat us immediately but within 20 minutes the place was packed and it feels like we got pushed to the back of the line. I informed staff before being seated about the birthday, they don't do birthday cakes which is fine so I advised that a creme caramel with a candle will suffice, drinks took 10 minutes to come, entrees another 25 and then everyone received mains separately last one being over an hour after ordering. Food was decent but took way to long to come out. I informed staff (same guy I told about the birthday when being seated) to please bring out the creme caramel to which I was then informed of a 30 minute wait for it.... they did bring out 3 scoops of icecream with a candle in it to make up for it but I just found that customer service to be a bit poor.
