To be honest, I prefer to run here on weekends when Kamil's other restaurant next door is too full. As a result of it, I now have an option. Yay.
Their Saba Fish appetizer will be something I order again and again. Please keep it on the menu; never change it, hehe. And, if feasible, try to keep the size of the Saba slices consistent.
I also like the miso-glazed cod with sautéed bok choy, mushrooms, and cauliflower. They are really fantastic together! In addition, I discovered that their Tuna Avocado Tartare was my next favorite. More than the salmon appetizer (not shown); both in terms of taste and price 🤩.
This is also what I like about Masama, they have more seafood options... yes, I'm speaking here as someone who doesn't really like poultry or red meat. So I look forward to their upcoming "catch of the day", to be available (fresh fish from the sea).
Berry fruit drinks; totally "a hmmmmmmm..." refreshing antioxidants + vitamin c. I only realized after my 3rd order, that there was added sugar/syrup, whereas there was none in the 1st and 2nd orders (which i prefer). However, they kindly made another glass without the added sugar.
However, after my most recent trip, I discovered that the team should find a technique to make the fried shrimp appetizer less greasy.
The waiters are very helpful, they don't provide long black iced coffee on their menu (only hot ones so far), but they can make it upon special request, as today's weather is very hot. They can also explain each menu and its ingredients well.
The problem with eating outdoors at lunchtime: at least from my experience, too many flies come to eat with you ;)
I've also eaten at their AC and the semi-indoor space before, and there...
Read moreWe had our birthday dinner here and we went home very satisfied!
Service: Everyone is very friendly, are willing to accomodate and are quick to response. We got a trainee waiter but he does very good!
Food: We ordered duck carpaccio, mezze platter, beef to share, and today's special seafood skewers.
Duck carpaccio 9/10: Very good. Combined with the cruncy bread, it easily becomes my favorite appetizer.
Mezze Platter 7/10: personally not my liking since i don't really eat legumes and stuff. But my spouse likes it very much.
Beef to share 9/10: we ordered medium rare and it came exactly the way we ordered. However the side of sautéed vegetables doesn't really compliment the heavy steak. I think it'll be better if we have the option to switch it to salad. The sides are wonderful! We got parmesan potato and it's a delight. The mash potato is a bit on the bland side.
Seafood skewers 10/10: star of tonight's meal. Easily the best food i have ever tasted. All the seafood is cooked to perfection. I can see myself coming back just for this menu.
Dessert: Banoffee pie is too sweet for my liking. But taste ok.
We got a couple of wine by the glass. Decent enough selection, though nothing fancy.
Ambience: it's not as crowded as mediterannea by kamil, if you're looking for a calmer place, this is it.
Overall, we are very satisfied. Hopefully the restaurant can maintain this level of...
Read moreI only have tried two dishes here, Duck Carpaccio & Mezze Platter. The hummus somehow tasted better at Mediterranea, but the quality is just as exceptional. The Carpaccio was balanced, just wonderful. For drinks we bought Cafe Vienna and Chai. The Cafe Vienna was not as good as I expected, but pleasant nonetheless. Chai could also use a little more kick to taste closer the the authentic ones, but overall still good.
Price wise it is worth every penny; if you compare it to Jakarta price, it’s a steal. You wouldn’t get anywhere near this quality for the price in bigger cities.
The place is also well designed, open concept, with only one fourth of the establishment air conditioned (on the left side from entrance)
When you enter the restaurant, you will be greeted by the staff and shown to your table, so service wise it is also exceptional (smiles, manners, clear communication)
Personally I prefer this to Mediterranea next door in terms of interior. The only downside to my Indonesian sweat glands is that it is mostly not air conditioned, so I cannot be so sure to visit in the middle of the day. But if you don’t easily get hot, the place is breezy enough and there’s plenty of shade.
Final verdict: 10/10 satisfied and...
