We, a group of 13 friends dined at Tequila Jacks on Saturday 23rd November. We had looked forward to the meet up / catch up before the Christmas madness but it turned out a disaster & we will never dine here again. Firstly we were seated just inside the windows, when seated I noticed two large containers from the kitchen collecting water which was pouring in from the top of the window/ceiling, we had to remove our jackets from the back of our chairs as they were swishing around in puddles that had formed on the floor. When this was brought to the managements attention we were told it was a result of the red weather warning that had been in place the night before but as you can see from the picture of the ceiling this certainly wasn't a new problem and there was black mould on the ceiling above us from where this problem had been for quite a while.
Some of the party had starters and when the waitress brought down new cutlery for those who had, she left it in a pile at the bottom of the table and walked away. Not one person in the group was pleased with their food and it was clear that they were seriously overbooked and that the kitchen were struggling. I had a burger and the closest thing I can describe it as is a cheap flat frozen burger that you'd buy in supermarket freezers. Several people had the enchiladas and they were described as a poor wrap with tinned tomatoes inside.
To top off the evening one of our party turned on their chair to go for drinks and discovered a nail/staple like object sticking out from the leg of the chair which had actually ripped his trousers and on further inspection it was discovered that two more of these objects were sticking out from the other front leg. When he called the manager about this, she got him a different chair and handed him a pre written email address on a piece of paper to voice his concern.
I can honestly say we'll never be back to Tequila...
Read moreVery poorly managed staff- there didn't seem to be any sort of system (like servers being divided to look after a section of tables). Impossible to get a table even though half of them are empty- they make you stand at a reception desk that is mostly unattended.
We visited on the last night of the Cork Jazz Fest, and when I first asked about getting a table I was told to go over to the reception, and stood waiting for a good 10mins while it was unattended. Eventually we just walked up and sat at a table, and we got asked to go back to reception. Gave the place the benefit of the doubt and chalked it up to the place being busy for Jazz Fest.
Made a booking for the next night- waited 10mins at reception again, finally got brought to a table and it was next to the bar so people were on top of us and nearly hitting off the table while queueing for drinks.
After being brought to the table, we ordered a drink and looked at the menu. We were waiting another 20mins until the drinks were brought down, all the while trying to flag down our server (or any server at all), and when she came with drinks, she then asked us if she'd taken our order for food.
At this point we just paid for our drinks and left. We had a booking for 6pm, and even with the booking, it took 10mins for someone to come to reception and bring us to a table, and after another 20mins we still hadn't even ordered.
I'd give this place 0 stars if it was possible.
The layout of the place was such that the stage was facing closed off booths, so the only way to properly see the musicians playing meant that you had to stand directly in front of them- which would have been fine if the PA system wasn't so ridiculously loud. The music was so loud, to the point that there were feedback screeches every...
Read moreUnfortunately we are very disappointed with the services that we received in the restaurant. We went for family dinner on a Tuesday night and we arrived around 8pm. The male waiter (who seems to be the manager) took us to the table and took our order. Within the 15 mins, we were served with our appetisers, no drinks were brought to the table. Not even a glass of water. We understood that they might be short staffed so we didn’t make any complaints and finished the appetisers without any drinks. The manager finally brought us the drink at 8:30pm and took away the finished appetisers. We were left ignored from this point onwards.
No mains were served to us yet no one were checking if we were okay. I walked up to the waitress who was standing by the entrance of the kitchen checking for our order at around 9pm. Again, we were waiting for further 15 mins without anyone getting back to us regarding the order. I ended up walking up to the kitchen area for the second time and spoke to a different waitress to get the bill. Someone brought two of our mains to the table at the same time without even apologising. At this point, we were all getting very frustrating as we’ve been waiting for an hour since we placed the order. We decided just to pay for the appetisers and drinks and left the restaurant. Bear in mind that, the second waitress who brought us the bill highlighted the issue to the manager and he didn’t even bother approaching us! He seems to tell her just to give us the bill.
We have been to the restaurant several times and always have good impressions. This has now changed and I can’t believe the LOW standard of services that we received considering the amount of money they charged. I would genuinely go for ZERO star if there’s an...
