Swimming. When Covid struck and our world was turned upside down, people had time on their hands and needed an outlet for their sanity. Some took to walking, others went cycling, some bought dogs, but the most popular pastime of all was swimming. Swimming was more than just a hobby, it became a whole new cultural movement. Colourful full length robes were de rigueur as the beaches were awash with groups splashing in the waves before sitting around fires and dining al fresco with gusto. I don't like swimming. And I didn't expect swimming when I entered Shake Dog at the Quayside shopping centre in Wine Street. But that's what I got, my chips were swimming. In what, I cannot say. It was meant to be cheese, but believe me, it wasn't. I tried to rescue the fries from the mucilaginous mess with ketchup and mustard but the mustard was as gooey as the 'cheese'. The chicken burger I had was low on chicken but the strawberry milkshake would even have impressed Vincent Vega. The waitress was efficient and deserved her tip and normally I'd complain, but I was rushing for a bus and every minute counted so I let it go. This was one nautical experience I didn't expect and a word to the wise, avoid going in at the deep end in Shake Dog.

It is a great restaurant in the centre of the sligo town. The main attraction of the menu is their meal deals which includes one mains, one sides and a huge shake glass for just 14.99. This meal deal is amazing to have as it just fulfills your tummy to the very end and also satisfies your sweet tooth cravings. We had ordered D best chicken burger ever, with fries which were made specially peri peri on our request and a brownie shake which was fabulous. The other order was a vegetarian burger bang which was not a deal thing also the burger was not upto the mark as expected. The taste was more bland and the description on the menu said with the red hot sauce but I guess they serve me burger sauce in my burger. I have been to this place quite a bit but the taste now has declined a lot or it was just my bad day getting the food not up to the mark. The staff were very friendly and very welcoming. The toilets were kept clean. There would be a lot of waiting time during the weekends and peak hours. They have an option for take away as well. There is no parking for the site but we can park near penneys and can walk down to the restaurant or can also park at the Quay parking and easily reach down to the restaurant.

Friday 14 July 2023 around 7-8pm My sistah brought me here and the lady serving the food was angry about something (she took the order like she did not want us there, grumpy and grumbling) I mean boiling water 🔥💧 angry. We got a burger (in a plate) for Liv and peri peri wings (in a bowl). I waited and she did not return, I realised that was the whole service done. No water to wash my hands or where to discard the chicken bones. I sent my bestie Soph to go ask for warm water in a bowl so I could wash my hands, if I won't be given cutlery (which will be impossible to use anyways as the wings were put in a bowl). This lady poured boiling water from an electric tea kettle and handed it to a child to bring. She brought it over and I was 🤯. I wanted to go 🎆 but Liv said no point. I diluted it with my bottle of water and it still was really hot, and I used Livs paper chip bag for bones... I'm sticking to Top Taste Sligo for my perri perri wings for now. And that glass for my water though... what is that? Bye!

First time visiting, and likely to be last. We sat for 30mins waiting for a order to be taken (along with 4 other tables) no waitress approached us, she had to be waved down while leisurely strolling past our table with 2 menus for new customers coming in. Her face was emotionless, and made us feel very uncomfortable to be there. We sat in a 2 person booth and felt every closing of the fridge door by the chef-the wall trembled when they slammed it. Atmosphere was droll. The restaurant itself was so cold. Cleanliness of not only toilets but booths were unratable. Toilet roll everywhere, one tap in both men's and women's toilet not working and almost hanging off. Felt like you were entering a storage room accessing the toilets. Napkins were left on floor, no attempt by staff to brush any old food or napkins away, waitresses cleared tables eventually, but did not disinfect or physically clean them after each customer. I watched as new customers dashed from table to table in hope of a clean one. After a long wait out food came. When food came it was palatable. Burger was of okay standard. Fries were cold. We had our milkshake 20 minutes before food, straw basically biodegraged before we could drink them after meal. We spent approx 1hr30 there waiting on a small bowl of fries, 2 small burgers and a milkshake. Price was good, but for what we experience, service was shocking, restaurant itself was dirty and cold. You get what you pay for. Budget food, budget staff for a budget price. Date of visit...

This place has all the potential to be a hotspot for Sligo but it just falls short at every hurdle

Price: The best part of this place is how cheap it is, 13 euro for essentially a full 3 course meal.

Burger: The beef tastes really cheap, i'm not sure if you're using frozen burger patties or just cheap ground beef but it's in need of big improvements. The chicken patties are very thin and when i recieved mine it was charred on the bottom. Toppings are fine, nothing really to complain about except the amount of BBQ sauce was in excess. Also the BBQ sauce sucks, it's really cheap probably blenders.

Sides: The chips are standard frozen fryer chips, nothing to write home about. The wings are grand, the spicy sauce is mainly water based and makes the crunchie skin soggy which isnt great. The BBQ sauce does the same thing.

Milkshakes: They're good, could use more Ice Cream though, They're kind of watery.

Edit* The fact that the managing director of the company decided to slate me instead of taking my feedback in his stride is a good pointer that this place is not run by professionals with patron satisfaction in their best interest, i may have a short time in the industry, Brian. But I definitely know that THAT was not A grade...
