I love board games. I play them weekly with my group. I gently prod my partner into playing them with me as often as i can. So, when I'm traveling, I like to check out local board game cafes to spend a few hours. This shop, as it is, is hard to recommend to gamers.

The model here is to pay 5€ per hour per person up to a max of 15€/person (after that, you can play as long as you like). One hour of gaming is NOTHING. I can't get settled at a table and pick out a game in less than 10 minutes. I can't set up some games in less than 20 minutes. I can't learn some games in less than 25 minutes, even longer if learning AND teaching. So, I might be paying 5€/person to read a rulebook and setup a game.. I get it, hourly pricing is great for folks playing over a coffee break, but it's awful for gamers. Just charge me 8-10€ flat for the night, as it stands it's not worth coming here to game unless I'm playing for 4+ hours. Even then, I have to do the math, 3-4 players at 15€ each.. maybe i can buy the game for that price.

The store is new, so some games are still in shrink wrap. Awesome that there are new games, but it means those games are basically unplayable AND if i do want to play them, i'm literally paying to punch out and sort someone else's game - that's crazy. Leave them off the shelf until they're unpacked and sorted!

From a hobbyist perspective, the collection of games is okay, a 6/10. There are some classics - Carcasonne, Splendor, etc. There are some medium-heavy greats - Scythe, Eclipse 1e, Brass Birmingham, Root. And there are some new-ish games - Expeditions, Furnace, Ark Nova (still in shrink... that's a 30 minute unpack...). But the collection is small and a bit lacking for an enthusiast. I'm sure that'll change with time.

Last note, the snacks are limited. I don't think there's a substantial enough food/drink menu for me to spend a long span of time here. I can only go so far on coffee, soda, and candy. If I could order a beer and a sandwich, I'd be more inclined to game for hours.

All said, I love everything in the board game community. I want everyone to play and enjoy board games so I'm glad this place exists although it's not for me, and probably not for...

Board and Brewed is an absolute gem that perfectly combines exceptional coffee with an incredible gaming experience. The pizza is outstanding and good value for money too.

Whether you're a seasoned board game strategist, D&D dungeon master, or competitive TCG player, this place has everything you need.

The game library is outstanding - from modern euros and thematic adventures to classic party games that welcome newcomers. The RPG area provides the perfect atmosphere for campaigns, with dedicated tables and ambient lighting. TCG players will love the organized play events and trading opportunities with fellow enthusiasts.

The staff are genuinely passionate gamers who offer excellent recommendations and rules explanations without being pushy. The coffee and food quality rivals any dedicated café, making those long gaming sessions even more enjoyable.

What sets Board and Brewed apart is how welcoming it feels to everyone - complete beginners learning their first game alongside tournament-level players preparing for competitions. The community vibe is infectious, and I've made lasting friendships here.

Perfect for date nights, family outings, solo gaming, or organized events. The location in Dún Laoghaire is easily accessible with nearby parking and transport links.

This place has quickly become my go-to spot for both casual coffee meetings and serious gaming sessions. Highly recommended for anyone curious about tabletop gaming or looking for their new...

This is a very nice cafe. They have roughly 300+ board games and the food menu is also delicious. Sandwiches 🥪 starts at 7 euros and are nice. On Tuesdays it is 5 euro unlimited time to play board games. On other days it is 15 euros max limit. The cafe is dog friendly and we were able to bring our dog inside the cafe on Tuesday. Location is very nice as it is few minutes walk from 46A bus station. They have nice coffee ☕️ and also other beverages. Cafe is 10 minutes walk from dart station and also has many good restaurants nearby. This cafe is open till evening 10 and thus a good spot to socialise and play board games with friends. One of the most interesting places I have visited in a long time. It brings back old memories of the board games I used to play in my childhood. They have board games of all kinds and for all ages, and while you enjoy the games you can order some wonderful food and drinks. The staff is super friendly and helpful and take utmost care of you while you have a great time. Highly recommend to visit if you are looking for a place to have an amazing time with your friends and family. Will definitely visit again.
