My wife and I had been passing by Zi Qi Chinese Restaurant for quite some time, and I had always been intrigued by it, mentioning repeatedly that I wanted to try it. This evening, on our way home, we saw the place was open. Despite preferring to dine at home, my wife graciously agreed to join me because she knew how much I wanted to visit.

Unfortunately, what should have been a pleasant experience turned into an incredibly unpleasant one. Upon entering, we were greeted (if you can call it that) by a staff member with an unmistakable glare of disdain. Her expression radiated such an unwelcome attitude that it left no doubt we were not wanted there. The tension was palpable, and even the other diners appeared to notice, casting glances in our direction.

The atmosphere was so hostile that we couldn’t bear to stay. After just a few minutes, we decided to leave. We crossed the street to the pizzeria, where we were warmly welcomed and treated with the kindness and respect every customer deserves.

It’s a shame to see such unprofessional behavior in a restaurant I had looked forward to trying for so long. I cannot recommend this place to anyone who values good service or a welcoming environment. This experience was deeply disappointing, and we will not...

(+)The fish is nice, reminds me of the sweetcorn sauce fish dish, but the sauce thickness is abit too gloopy. The fried rice is moist and vegetable are fresh. That is good. (-)I know it's bad to compare with a local chinese takeaway shop portion size, but there is a big difference between €5 Side Fried rice and €11 Mains Fried rice. And the male staff on the phone replied saying that, there is a very small difference between the Mains paper box 600ml(~volumn of 2 cans of cola) and the Mains Plastic see-through box, the 'Mains' paper box is a tiny bit smaller than the Mains Plastic box. Why the Side Chips is contained in a longer container? OK. I have did an experiment. But Customers would start doubting about the size, as side fried rixe in a Chipper is contained in a aluminium half-portion square box, and having the Chips in a Full portion aluminium box makes the Mains Fried rice looks smaller. In summary, hope that the shop could revise and standerdise on the take-away, in order to...

What a feast last night!! We regularly get takeaway from Zi Qi, but last night we decided for the first time to dine in the restaurant. And now I’m not sure we’ll ever get takeaway again! While we love their takeaway, eating in was an entirely different experience. Food was piping hot and so fresh and tasty. Everything was excellent, but in particular the sliced pork in sweet and sour was stunning- incredibly crispy- and the homemade dumplings were fab. But the winner might have been the aubergine in hot garlic sauce was the best I’ve ever had- they’ve changed the recipe and it is full of fantastic veg and soft soft aubergine. Bottle of Albariño at €28 and enough food for 4 people plus lots of food to take home (really appreciated the takeaway boxes brought to the table so we could make up pack lunches on the spot!) and the bill came to under €160, which was incredible value. Used to head into Dublin City centre for M&L or Good World, but now why would I bother with this gem on...

Ordered a Kung Pao chicken. It is a pretty standard dish in Chinese restaurants consisting of protein (chicken) cashew nuts and large chunks of spicy red chilli. When it arrived it had no chilli's and in their place, chunks of carrot. When I rang to bring up the issue the (really lovely and helpful) girl on the phone asked the manager who said (after having a suspect conversation in mandarin) that if I wanted chilli's "I should have requested them." It's clear they ran out and still made the dish and sent it completely wrong. The manager was incredibly rude and thats why im writing the review. This is the second time I've ordered from here... the first time the food never arrived at all. Probably better off. Putting carrots in a Kung Pao chicken is like putting chilli's in a shepards pie. Useless.
