Our tour group of 22 had lunch at Ka Shing Chinese Restaurant in Dublin Tourist District on 24May2024. Although the restaurant was not decorated elaborately, all the staff were very friendly and hospitable. However, the toilets were located at the basement and floor was oily and slippery.

At 1pm, it was sparsely filled but small groups of diners streamed in continuously; most ordered Dim Sum which looked good.

Our group had their lunch package of 1 soup and 6 dishes with white rice and Chinese Tea.

Must say that their food were delicious. The fish head tofu soup was simple yet delicious and not salty.

We particularly enjoyed the roast duck either crispy skin and juicy meat.

The fried pork belly with tofu and celery was delicious too, though I would prefer the pork belly a little more softer.

The portion of steam fish was big enough for 11 per table. A little over steamed, nevertheless pretty good.

The Stewed Beef with bean sprouts and mala was unusual - not overly spicy/numbing.

The servings overall were generous.

When meals were finished, I asked if dessert would be served. The Manager told me that our package did not cover desserts. However, shortly after, a plate of cut oranges were served to each table - with the owner’s compliments. We were appreciative.

The meal was delicious and good value for tourist package; but I would surely like to return to try their Dim Sum.

Apparently, the owners migrated to Ireland from Hong Kong for over 30 years. And the restaurant was set up for 16 years already. Owner was pretty proud to claim that they were the best Chinese Restaurant in Ireland and perhaps...

We have visited Ka Shing many times and still keep coming back here each time we visit Dublin (we are based in West Coast of Ireland). A few times we in fact made special trips to Dublin just because we miss the truly high quality food there that we struggle to find elsewhere in Ireland. (And we do explore and try out other places and still haven't found anywhere better yet!)

Today as we found ourselves making a last min trip to Dublin, after a long day, we couldn't think of anything better than heading straight to Ka Shing again. And most certainly we were not disappointed. We arrived weary and hungry, left happy and feeling satisfied. One special thing we believe is that because of the wholesome-ness of the food they serve - high quality ingredient and traditional, authentic cooking method - after we polish off all the food, we don't leave feeling yuck or bloated, we just simply feel good, and satisfied. Clean eating so to speak! :)

We can honestly say we never had a bad meal here, from dim sum lunch to dinner, all outstanding. Therefore we highly recommend Ka Shing, especially to those who have indeed lived in Asia and looking for food reminding you of your good times in Asia, you must give this place a try!

Thank you very much Ka Shing chefs and all staff, we can tell you are a hard-working bunch, thank you for the good times and we look forward to keep coming back in years to come!

PS. Most memorable and delicious dish thus far - Lobster with ginger and spring onions. A very special dish, hard to master, but it was so well done, so perfect, you can really tell the chefs there...

Awful service. Reserved a table by phone, left name and phone number. Arrived and name wasn't on the list. Eventually given a table. Table is weirdly high, makes us look like children at a children's table. We're forgotten about and not given a menu for 10 mins, when we ask for one. A pot of tea is placed on our table. We presume it's complementary. Later on we find out we have to pay for it if we drank from it. No prawn crackers to munch on. One of the waiters is the rudest I've ever come across. Staff are all rushed and harried, but this guy is borderline aggressive. Thinking I was going to eat with chopsticks as I was sitting with an Asian, he grabbed my knife, fork and spoon, and then, when informed I'd rather use the cutlery, he just dropped them rather than placing them back down. They crashed and went askew No apology, the guy just walked off, looking for his next victim. The food took 50 minutes to arrive. The place was cold. They put on a hefty service charge, maybe because no-one tips. The food wasn't bad, but the overall experience is not worth the money. Avoid. Side note: the waiter we had an awful experience with was the old, bald guy. The other staff didn't seem as bad. When we queried about the tea not being declared as to be paid for, I didn't know what he was saying as they were speaking Chinese, but he did a lot of pointing at my partner and reaffirmed his absence of manners. It was almost comical how rude this guy was. It was almost like a "How not to be a waiter" demonstration. As a customer, I left very unsatisfied and not...

This Chinese restaurant is what's known as traditional, if you've been to Good World which is only 10 minutes here you know what to expect. First thing that seemed slightly off is it's an all male staff and most of them are over 50. The establishment is easy on the eye and was very busy for 1.30pm on a Saturday. The rest of this review I'm afraid are fairly negative points. My friend who recommended here dropped in again with me and he had mentioned b4 that he was charged for the "complimentary tea" which he was sure was a mistake, but unfortunately they charged again, even though I don't drink tea! I'm fairly sure that is a deception of sorts? My other main gripe was the shallowness of the Vegetarian options and I was pushed towards PLAIN NOODLES and yet the price of them was anything but plain, infact it was exotic of the highest order, SIXTEEN EUROS! (They were very salty and to much soya) I got a portion of chips which by Chinese standards were tiny (think of those lil tiny pub jugs that you get them in) The 3 meat eaters thought their dishes were ranging from satisfactory to plain average. Oh the final insult? No complimentary sweet at the end!

I've never written a review for a restaurant especially a bad review, because from a business perspective this could be bad or maybe not but, This was my favourite restaurant. If I ever crave Chinese food in Dublin with a chinese ambience, My go-to place would be this and I also suggest all my friends to try this place as well. But that waiter or whoever the hell it was. Came too quick to get the order, i told him " Get me the shrimp Dimsum for now, I'll go through and order the main dish". Now this is the part where I was really pissed, he told me "You have to spend minimum 15 euros with a straight rude face". I really don't understand why you would ever say that. -- This is a prime example of how businesses lose customers. And I've been coming here for a year and a half now. Never ever going back nor am I suggesting this place to anyone in the future.Obviously the taste wasn't good as before as well, very slow service.
