We have decided to book a joint birthday dinner at Zizzi's as two weeks ago we went there with our coworkers and had a lovely experience. Great food, prompt waitress, everyone checking on us to see if we wanted anything all of the time. Sadly, that is not what happened yesterday 6/10/25. We had a booking for 8pm and the two birthday people arrived at 7:45pm as they had just finished work, they could have had a drink or something before being brought to the table, right? Instead, the lady manager who was working that night said that their "table wasn't ready" (even though the place was empty and they could have been accomodated anywhere). Forward to 8pm, all 5 of us where there. 25min later nobody had come to take our order. We were trying to make eye contact with not one but THREE waitresses that were at the bar area talking with each other and nobody was coming to look after us. We considered ordering through the QR code on the menu but unfortunately only UK restaurants where available for that. It was only when the table beside us got served that I had to say "sorry we are ready to order" to the server who luckily passed beside us. She came back, took our order, and one of the birthday persons explicitly asked if one of the dishes could have been made with NO CHICKEN. The server said YES we can make it with no chicken. My partner asked for a simple garlic dip for himself and his mother's pizza. Guess what happened? Everyone's dish arrived but my rissotto which took 5 more minutes to be brought, the dish with no chicken the birthday girl ordered came WITH chicken, and the garlic dips never arrived. My risotto was completely overcooked and tasteless. We got a server's attention again and she came to collect the dish with chicken and 2min later it was back on the table: they clearly picked the meat off the dish instead of making a new one. A complete disregard to people's dietary choices. The garlic dip was then brought when the pizzas were nearly finished and had such a strong lemony taste to it that was everything but garlic sauce. The asian manager who first mistreated the birthday people who arrived to our booking 15min early then started treating us very nicely after so many mistakes from the staff team who looked everything but willing to serve people. We wanted to order dessert and again they manage to take forever to come take our order. When they did, one of the servers came back to say they didn't have 3 out of 5 desserts we picked to have. Even though our first experience at Zizzi's was lovely, the same happened with us then: no chocolate fudge, no sticky toffee pudding, no something else I can't remember. And that was at 4pm so it is not like they ran out of stock after a busy night or something. Why bother having them on the menu so? My "vegan cake" was so incredibly sweet that I still taste it in my mouth today. We were so embarrassed to have picked Zizzi's for their birthday and have talked so highly about it after we had such poor customer service last night. I work in hospitality too and I would be embarrassed to be the manager of this place. Not a...

This message is for the owner of the restaurant: NOT ENOUGH staff! Two people in the bar and 2 floor staff running around the place, stressed, customers waiting for hours to be served is not ok. Sunday lunch is a busy time so just hire extra staff for that day only. Trying to cut down costs by not having enough staff is only going to bring down the reputation of the place. Again, all staff very hardworking, friendly, they didn't rest for a minute so this is not their fault. Now let's talk about food. Garlic bread starter was really nice, main course Casareccia pesto rosso- probably the worst pasta I've ever had. Didn't have much taste, I could find 2-3 chicken strips in it, wasn't harissa chicken as states in menu so I paid 17 euros for plain pasta. For 17 at least half of a chicken fillet could go into it. Dessert: the filling of the tiramisu has a grainy texture which should be silky smooth and tiramisu is made with lady fingers, this is not an authentic italian tiramisu. The lemon tart is obviously factory made frozen/defrosted dessert. Its sweet and tangy, dense, rich in texture that needs something light and airy like whipped fresh cream to balance it out and not mascarpone. Dessert was served, we somehow managed to order 2 coffees that came out 15 minutes later, in all this time you're sitting there thinking i probably don't even want that coffee if its taking THAT long. So from arriving at 1pm and finishing dessert at nearly 4pm is a long time. I can't stress enough the fact that all staff members were up to their eyes and this is not their fault. The restaurant was packed with customers and very understaffed. So "dear" owner, it is NOT ok to expect few people run the restaurant for you. While you're getting rich, your staff is going through such stress that they're on the edge of breakdown, not having time to take a minute for a "breathe in -breathe out) because they're continuously running around. So if you care about your staff even a little, you will give them a pay rise and start hiring more people. I might give this place another try in few...

I’ve never been to a Zizzi before, so let’s check it out and see what it’s all about. A busy place in the centre of Dublin City.

We ordered but had to call the waitress over to take our order. The food arrived prompt but I think the chef needs re-training and needs to check his recipes. I thought to myself I’m no chef 👩‍🍳 but I can cook better than this 😂. The pizza looked nice had some kick but most of the chicken was on the left and hardly none on the right. I don’t believe they do half and half 🍕 pizzas. I think the oven was operating too hot or the chef wasn’t on the ball ⚽️ as the outer edges of the pizza were cremated and resembled a crispness which was dryer than a poppadum 😂. The prawn 🍤linguine looked okay but had zero taste and when the waitress was informed she just apologised and didn’t do anything about it. It was supposed to be served with Roquito chilli 🌶️ sauce courgettes and pea shoots which it appeared to have none of. Now the picture of this on the website looks good but the real rubbish you get served was diametrically opposed. The chips were okay which weren’t worth taking a picture of and the cheesy garlic bread was okay. I would recommend that you stay away from this place and take your money elsewhere as if your pissed 🍷 anything tastes good.

I visited the bathroom which was situated in a dungeon underground which had an unclean toilet, no working hand dryer so I had to use toilet tissue to dry my hands which everyone know if you do this then it disintegrates in your hands 😂. I went to place the tissue in the bin which looked like it was from a skip and complete broken, so I had to throw it in the toilet 🚽. I suppose the bathroom reflects the food 💩.

If you think this place reflects anything Italian 🇮🇹then please check yourself into the nearest...

Zizzi is located just off trendy Grafton street and steps away from Trinity College. This was my first time at Zizzi and my experience fell a bit short. There were a few bumps along the way in regards to several drinks and menu items not being available as well as with the food service. It was explained that many items from the menu were not available due to supplier issues because of COVID. We were told about several drinks that were not available and then about some other dishes not available when going to order them. With the amount of dishes / cocktails not available it would be helpful if perhaps something was left on the table or attached to the menu listing out of stock menu items. I understand that things may not run as smooth now but I also think it can be communicated a bit better. Once the several food service issues were dealt with we were ready to eat! I had one of the vegan pizzas, the little soul balls (ultimately bread balls) and for desert I had the millionaire square. The pizza wasn’t anything special and was fairly plain while the little soul balls were balls of cooked dough. It would be really nice if they were filled with something - nothing to crazy but just something to make them a bit more exciting. There is a place in Edmonton, Canada called Die Pie and they have mastered these! Not sure I’d go back or not. Maybe to give the pasta a try but I probably wouldn’t right away. It’s a bit expensive for the meals not to be perfect. But either time to get back into the swing of things or some adjustments and I’d probably give it another go. The staff were good though and to be fair, they were really kind and quick when it came to correcting a few of the issues we had.
