I would have given more stars had my pleasant experience not ended with a rude staff member approach me without so much of an "excuse me". No manners. She actually startled me. Said "we're going to have to take back the table. Cause we're busy." I had bought a full Irish, which isn't cheap. But nice enough with a pot of tea and toast. I had then bought a slice of cheesecake, again not cheap. But tasty. Then I bought a big pot of tea for one. As I planned to settle myself there for a little while, to read, write and brainstorm. Little did I know I'd be bullied out of my seat. I looked around and saw there were enough vacant tables. So I approached some of the other staff members and informed them of what had occurred between me and the rude staff member. One of the other staff members said there was a party upstairs. But again, this information was not disclosed to me, during the rude encounter. Furthermore, I HAD a pot of tea STILL on the go. There were others finished their food and drinks. Do NOT serve some one a big pot of tea for one, if you expect the to go soon upon purchase. Connect the dots. Also, train your staff to approach customers with a more professional if not friendly disposition, or just don't hire people who are incapable of working the floor. Simple as that. So, if you plan on going to this establishment, watch out for a middle aged lady with short red hair. She's not the most professional when it comes to conversing or even approaching customers. Steer clear of her. And should she approach you, let the buyer beware. Won't be coming back to your cafe, if she is still there. Thanks for ruining a pleasant experience. You're getting two stars because the food and the rest of the staff were nice. But apart from that, overpriced, toilets in a ridiculous location and rude staff member (possibly members. I'm hoping not....
Read moreCame in today with my sister. We had been touring all day And weâre so hungry. Went to the first place we saw but that was a mistake. The cafe area down stairs looked decent s but when we got up stairs we were very uncomfortable. First off we received dirty looks by the staff and the only two people sitting in there who seemed to be friends with the woman working. She made sure to talk to them and serve them but we stood there wondering if she was ever going to acknowledge us. We eventually ask âMay we get something to eatâ and she tells us to sit where we want. Brings us a pitcher of water and two glasses and makes us pour it ourselves. We quickly decided what we wanted but the woman took forever to come back and ask if we were ready to order. We order and the food comes. Itâs alright. Not the best thing but we were trying to satisfy our hunger and get back on the tour bus. We hurry up and ask for separate tickets. She brings one ticket. We get up to take a picture. She comes over like weâre up to no good. Very awkward and uncomfortable to the max. We finally get up to pay and ask her to split the checks. She does but damn like had no smile. No enthusiasm. Maybe itâs because we were Americans.... definitely wasnât a good first impression in Galway. We did end up going somewhere else for desserts (gourmet tarts) and it was grand! Will not recommend this bc...
Read more   Read moreHad a poor dining experience overall. Wouldn't recommend for a group evening meal. We had a group meal here on Saturday for a Stag party booked through thestagsballs.ie at âŹ25pp, a large increase in price over what the restaurant charges directly (about âŹ16 for 2 courses). The food quality therefore wasn't what we expected and was more similar to canteen food. We could choose a starter and main or a main and dessert, but we all had to choose the same courses... i.e. we all ended up choosing a main and dessert... Why? Because that's the rule, some people didn't want dessert so they just had a main course...for which they paid âŹ25. Very limited selection of beers and wines, no Heineken in stock on a night they were expecting 50 guests total. The staff on the floor were mostly friendly but service was a bit rough. They gave us an itemised bill for drinks at the end - it was roughly âŹ220 for drinks, seemed right at first glance but one of the guys added up the individual drinks and found that they had overcharged us by roughly âŹ80! A simple mistake? Maybe, but it worked out almost exactly as 60.0% markup... We didn't care too much cause we were having great craic and ended up having a great weekend but I'm just leaving this here so you know its one to avoid for...
