Went to get some lunch, and was met by an older woman and went to order a bagel to which I was told ‘we don’t serve bagels’ to which I responded saying it was on the menu, and she told ‘well we only serve what’s there’ and pointed at the counter. So I went with the bap instead, and asked to add cheese and was told ‘well eh that’s extra’ and I said ok. I then went to the till to pay and was charged €12.40 and I asked was the bap now €10.50, and when I queried this I was told ‘well you added stuff not included so it’s extra’ and I smirked and said ‘€2 for a slice of cheese’ and she responded ‘no, it’s actually €1.60’ (which was still like 30cent more) I just laughed to myself and ordered a coffee and just paid. My partner then went to order a tea and scone and asked for a plain scone to which the older man said ‘there’s none, just help yourself to what’s there’ and he asked if they contain cranberry as he is allergic and was told ‘no’. The toilets are also not the best, bad smell and very untidy. I’m not one to ever leave a review but I found the older staff to be extremely rude, and feel they just didn’t want to be there. I’m sorry I decided to stay because it was just awkward afterwards.

It can be hit or miss... It seems at peak times the food and service is great but outside of those times it's not so great. We waited over 5 minutes while there was no customers at the counter meanwhile 4 staff members were behind the counter, one who was on the phone talking about the weather!! Tables were dirty. The sausages were dry and the curry sauce was lumpy. Given the state of the place downstairs it was no suprise to find the toilets were filthy and smelly.

I have loved having breakfast here. The way you request your breakfast may seem cold but the staff is so, so friendly, that I left with a good taste of goose. The girl who served me breakfast was very helpful considering my basic English(I'm spanish) and then a lady passed the table asking if everything was ok Congratulations to the staff. Oh! the breakfast, great đŸ€—

I would have given more stars had my pleasant experience not ended with a rude staff member approach me without so much of an "excuse me". No manners. She actually startled me. Said "we're going to have to take back the table. Cause we're busy." I had bought a full Irish, which isn't cheap. But nice enough with a pot of tea and toast. I had then bought a slice of cheesecake, again not cheap. But tasty. Then I bought a big pot of tea for one. As I planned to settle myself there for a little while, to read, write and brainstorm. Little did I know I'd be bullied out of my seat. I looked around and saw there were enough vacant tables. So I approached some of the other staff members and informed them of what had occurred between me and the rude staff member. One of the other staff members said there was a party upstairs. But again, this information was not disclosed to me, during the rude encounter. Furthermore, I HAD a pot of tea STILL on the go. There were others finished their food and drinks. Do NOT serve some one a big pot of tea for one, if you expect the to go soon upon purchase. Connect the dots. Also, train your staff to approach customers with a more professional if not friendly disposition, or just don't hire people who are incapable of working the floor. Simple as that. So, if you plan on going to this establishment, watch out for a middle aged lady with short red hair. She's not the most professional when it comes to conversing or even approaching customers. Steer clear of her. And should she approach you, let the buyer beware. Won't be coming back to your cafe, if she is still there. Thanks for ruining a pleasant experience. You're getting two stars because the food and the rest of the staff were nice. But apart from that, overpriced, toilets in a ridiculous location and rude staff member (possibly members. I'm hoping not....

Came in today with my sister. We had been touring all day And we’re so hungry. Went to the first place we saw but that was a mistake. The cafe area down stairs looked decent s but when we got up stairs we were very uncomfortable. First off we received dirty looks by the staff and the only two people sitting in there who seemed to be friends with the woman working. She made sure to talk to them and serve them but we stood there wondering if she was ever going to acknowledge us. We eventually ask “May we get something to eat” and she tells us to sit where we want. Brings us a pitcher of water and two glasses and makes us pour it ourselves. We quickly decided what we wanted but the woman took forever to come back and ask if we were ready to order. We order and the food comes. It’s alright. Not the best thing but we were trying to satisfy our hunger and get back on the tour bus. We hurry up and ask for separate tickets. She brings one ticket. We get up to take a picture. She comes over like we’re up to no good. Very awkward and uncomfortable to the max. We finally get up to pay and ask her to split the checks. She does but damn like had no smile. No enthusiasm. Maybe it’s because we were Americans.... definitely wasn’t a good first impression in Galway. We did end up going somewhere else for desserts (gourmet tarts) and it was grand! Will not recommend this bc...

Had a poor dining experience overall. Wouldn't recommend for a group evening meal. We had a group meal here on Saturday for a Stag party booked through thestagsballs.ie at €25pp, a large increase in price over what the restaurant charges directly (about €16 for 2 courses). The food quality therefore wasn't what we expected and was more similar to canteen food. We could choose a starter and main or a main and dessert, but we all had to choose the same courses... i.e. we all ended up choosing a main and dessert... Why? Because that's the rule, some people didn't want dessert so they just had a main course...for which they paid €25. Very limited selection of beers and wines, no Heineken in stock on a night they were expecting 50 guests total. The staff on the floor were mostly friendly but service was a bit rough. They gave us an itemised bill for drinks at the end - it was roughly €220 for drinks, seemed right at first glance but one of the guys added up the individual drinks and found that they had overcharged us by roughly €80! A simple mistake? Maybe, but it worked out almost exactly as 60.0% markup... We didn't care too much cause we were having great craic and ended up having a great weekend but I'm just leaving this here so you know its one to avoid for...
