The food here is absolutely amazing... will definitely be going back. The brisket starter was phenomenal. Absolutely ate way more than I should've.
Update: After a 2nd visit, I can say that this restaurant is consistent and delivers quality food.
This time, we had the bread starter and the roasted red pepper cashew dip is a must try. We also started with the calamari, which was crispy, well seasoned, and fresh. Overall, the starters are very well portioned and will not ruin your appetite for mains.
We had two surf and turf meals; one order with prawns and the other with grilled octopus. The prawns were amazing and served in plenty of garlic and butter. The grilled octopus was very tender and not chewy but underwhelmed in terms of flavor or seasoning. We all agreed that the steaks with these were mouth-watering and delicious.
We had a cowboy steak that was an excellent portion size, did not need any additional seasoning, and had a really nice char on it. I was impressed with the restaurants accuracy in cooking steaks to temp as when ordering rare, I often get served over done steak.
Portions are absolutely large enough to not need sides.
We did go in for another round of desserts, and the brownie was delightful once again. Served very warm with ice cream and hot fudge, it'll satisfy any sweet tooth. The star, however, was the cheesecake, which is being made on site. It is a light cheesecake and very creamy. The fruit coulis we picked as a topping was a strawberry forward flavor and not overly sweet. The fried oreos are the way to go if you like a sweater dessert. I was happy that they were not greasy and very lightly coated, so they didn't feel too heavy.
Price wise, it is not the cheapest, but the quality of food and service is 100% worth the price. Food was brought to tables quickly, and our waitress, Saoirse, was balancing over 10 tables efficiently and took care of us well.
Atmosphere wise this is a much more modern spot with upbeat and light music. While we love the traditional pubs, this is an excellent departure if you want a really great steak and a different vibe.
Side note the ginger ull cocktail...
Read moreOk so we were very excited to try the Lobster. I called the restaurant to make a booking and I was told they specialise in lobster. I couldn’t wait as I eat Lobster often. When I walked into the restaurant it was empty whilst the other restaurants had queues out the door. This was during the Galway Arts Fest so a huge amount of people were on the streets. I ordered the Lobster which was 52 euro for 600g. I was disappointed to find out there was no side chips included in the price. This is included in most restaurants. The chips was an extra 6 euro. The lobster was very disappointing, looked much smaller than 600g. It smelt of burning shell. They apparently grill the lobster which is completely unnecessary. The burnt smell was the first impression when it arrived at the table. It was hard to enjoy the food when all you got was a burnt shell smell. When I brought it to the attention of the waiter he said I should have asked not to grill but as a paying customer who is prepared to pay a high price for food, I should at least get the option provided by the waiter. It’s simple service, ask me if I want it grilled and I would have said No. Overall horrible experience. It’s clear the chef doesn’t care about standards. Their legendary duck wings were dry and tasted like they were reheated from the day before. They were not cooked fresh and certainly not ‘legendary’ the restaurant is an example of ‘rip of Ireland’ and I am not surprised it was empty on a very busy night in Galway. Poor quality food for TOP prices. The management need to seriously take on customer feedback and make radical changes. If not, it won’t exist this time next year.
The lobster we got in Dingle. It was only 500g juicy and not grilled. The second was a 600g we got at the steak and lobster restaurant in Galway. It was clearly smaller with black chared shell. Remember the smell was really bad, burnt shell. I do not recommend this restaurant. Over priced poor...
Read moreWalked past this restaurant a few times, thought I’d give it a go. Atmosphere is lacking, something you’d expect from a café. We was sat in close proximity to another table which for me is off putting as I feel as if I have no privacy.
As I saw the tables food next to me come in i noticed how small the portion was for the price. Nevertheless still willing to give it a try as price may justify the taste.
I was wrong, I had the Bacon Cheeseburger which came on a small wooden plate. Which left me little to no room to eat the burger as I normally do in a restaurant setting “Knife and fork” Also at first glance thought it came without any cheese as there was so little I had to dig around the burger to see if there was any. As for the taste of the burger it was just so bland. No flavour at all, in all honesty I’ve had better microwaveable burgers. The only saving factor of the dish was the fries even though I had to get up and ask for ketchup as none was provided.
My partner had Lambay crab claws and king shrimp. For a 24 euro dish the shear size of the plate compared to the portion if the dish quite frankly is laughable. She must’ve had less than half of the small portion given to her, which she seemed more interested in my fries than the meal given to her.
I’m not a seafood fan though I tried the sauce from her dish which was just overpowering with chili. That’s all I could taste.
Last but not least as I have no idea how this could’ve gone wrong. The coke, a simple bottled beverage came to us flat at 3 euro a 200ml bottle. Not just mine, also my partners. She said it’s like it’s been opened for 3 days. Which I’d have to disagree. It still had “some” fizz to it. More like 1 day opened coke “24 hrs”
As you can imagine we won’t be returning to this establishment, I just hope they take my criticism as a positive outlet in order to improve, as customers in the future deserve a lot better than what is...
