1st time ordering food from Lana. Not available on Just Eat App in my phone so ordered on their website as no choice. Good selection of food on their menu so was expecting good food after ordering. I placed my order for collection from their Castlebar fast food store - I chose to pay on collection of my order. On arriving the power was out for most of the businesses in the area. I had no cash only debit card to pay. I was rudely told by a attendeny with black glasses that I would need to go and get cash to pay, I offered to leave my card no. as payment for the food, she almost spat back ‘no’ and ‘if I didn’t want my food that was fine too’. I decided after driving 10kms in to their shop(no delivery available!) and food for myself and wife to go and look for an atm. After eventually finding 2 atms, both without power and unable to complete transactions. I reluctantly returned to the shop at this stage believing it would be unlikely that I would be given my food. Upon returning to the shop I witnessed other customers being treated just the same way as I had been been told to go off and get cash to pay for their food and furthermore customers who had sat in for their food being ‘ordered’ to go and get cash to pay for their meals. On approaching the attendant again I advised that that I had tried and failed to find a working atm, meanwhile I caught sight of my food sitting up on the counter as it had been along with other customers food. The attendant again was rude and advised me that if I didn’t like it I could ‘just leave my food’. This was very upsetting, I really didn’t expect this reaction and mentioned that maybe a contingency plan should be in place to accept card numbers instead of pushing customers around. Eventually this attendant reluctantly and angrily wrote my card details down. I asked her how long my food had been sitting out on the counter, she lied and told me 5 mins. I left with the food after spending a total of 25 mins from the time of arriving at the shop to the food. The food was cold on arriving back with it. It was soggy, greasy and I would not recommend anyone to this overall...
Read moreTerrible service! This was my 5th time going to Lana, 3 times with my family and twice with a friend and everytime I have ordered a main course. When I was there today my friend was not that hungry and just wanted to order the noodles as a side dish on its own and the manager told her she was not allowed to have a side by itself and could only do so if we got a takeaway instead of sitting in, we were confused as the last time we were there she was allowed to have a side dish on its own. Then he changed his mind when he found out that I wanted to order a main course. I truly believe this treatment was due to our age (both in our 20’s) as I have never been treated like this when I was dining with my parents. It should not matter what the customer is ordering because we are still paying and the customer is always right. The manager tried to explain the reason they don’t serve side dishes is to prevent people from ordering little and out staying their welcome which is a ridiculous. If the owner is that concerned about people outstaying their welcome he should update their policy and put a time limit for people dining in (eg 1.5 hours) instead of trying to prevent people from dining in altogether. It is the owners problem not the customers. When the dishes finally arrived there was no salt or ketchup offered and the server didn’t even offer to give my friend a bigger plate instead of the small bowl she was given to eat her noodles. When I went to pay the manager was very condescending in the way he spoke to me. He asked me am I paying together or separate and I replied “together” in which he then replied “yeah that’s what I’m asking you” I used to love going to Lana and I am so dissapointed in the way I have been treated, as paying customers we were made feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome from the start and I will never...
Read moreI am writing to formally file a complaint regarding a very upsetting and humiliating experience that occurred at Lana in Salthill, on July 26, 2025, at exactly 8:45 AM.
I was with a friend, and we were entering the restaurant, as we usually do. I have been a regular customer for a long time, and I’ve always appreciated the food and often bring friends with me. We were asked to wait outside before being allowed to enter, and we complied.
However, we noticed that other people were being let in ahead of us. When we politely asked about it, three staff members — two girls and one young man — began laughing at us. Eventually, we were allowed in, but then left waiting for quite some time before anyone came to our table.
When the young male staff member finally approached us, instead of taking our order, he asked us to stand up and move to another table. This caused a deep feeling of embarrassment, especially because other guests were watching, and the same staff members laughed and made comments from the counter.
This behavior was not only unprofessional but also felt xenophobic and discriminatory. I clearly heard them laughing and making remarks that were meant to mock us. I have never felt so humiliated and disrespected in a public space, particularly in an establishment I’ve supported for so long.
I am extremely disappointed and upset by this incident, and I feel compelled to pursue my rights as a customer and a resident. No one deserves to be treated differently or ridiculed based on where they come from.
I hope you take this complaint seriously and address it with the appropriate urgency. Your staff should be trained to treat all customers with dignity, respect, and fairness — regardless of nationality...
