Samyo Asian Food — Restaurant in Galway

My family and I are in Galway for a few days and we've already been to Samyo TWICE because we really enjoyed it (we would love to go again if time allowed). The food is really wonderful, very generous portions and reasonably priced, and beautifully cooked with great variety, especially for vegetarians and vegans. My mum and I are both vegetarians and we had lots of choice of lovely food (we tried the vegetable peanut satay, the veggie chow mein, the stuffed mushroom starter and the signature curry with vegetables, and they were all lovely - would especially recommend the signature curry). The staff were so friendly and attentive, and service was very quick - we didn't have to wait much between courses, which was brilliant as you can smell the wonderful food throughout the restaurant and it made us really hungry. I'm just sorry we don't have a place like Samyo back home in Belfast - but I look forward to visiting again next time...

Ordered 4 items for takeaway, we waited over 2 hours for it to arrive. Placed an order at 7pm and by 9pm we had talked to 3 different members of staff about the food not arriving. Each time they told me the driver had left, then retracted saying that the driver was collecting our food and then said they were only cooking it.

On my third attempt at speaking with a staff member, they were quite rude and told me they didn’t receive my order until 8pm and that I was lying. They said “what do you want me to do about it”, they had no solution to this issue.

Not to mention we got delivered cold food. We are repeat customers to Samyo and we are appalled at the treatment we received tonight. We will not be ordering from here again.

My advice, find a more reputable Asian food...

Had a lovely evening with the Mrs and couple our friends for a dinner and movie night out. Being from Malaysia this restaurant really reminds of back home. Probably the best Malaysia style food in Galway. Friendly staff and beautiful atmosphere. The food is well priced and was absolutely delicious. The nasi lemak is a must have (only available on Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and the other dishes and amazing too. The chicken wing is marinated with traditional spices (ayam berempah). The level of spiciness can be adjusted if you are into spicy food. The bathroom was clean as well. Usually ordered for delivery but had to try it in house tonight. Overall very satisfied and would recommend for anyone who would like to try Asian food. The restaurant is close to the ocean and cinema if you are planning to have a dinner and movie night out...
