We visited this place for both food and drinks. Our table wasn't cleaned for a while after we were seated, even though we made the staff aware we were taking a table that others had left. We had to ask for it to be cleared and cleaned. We ordered our food and after waiting around 30-40 minutes for our food, we enquired as to how long it would take and we were informed that our original order was never put through. We waited another 15-20 minutes before we got the food. The food was okay. It was tasty but didn't warrant the price charged. The photo attached features the Taiwanese Crispy Chicken Bowl, the portion was fine but not worth the price especially considering the lack of chicken. The prawn toast "with njuda" also lacked any flavour of "njuda", so paying €9.50 for a slice of white toast with some prawn spread seems steep. We also weren't checked on during the meal, and the waitress came to ask us if she could take our plates while already picking them up. There's also no Vegetarian mains. We were going to try dessert, but after 20 minutes of waiting with the menu we gave up. One redeeming factor is the selection of beers on tap. All the beers were.worth the price, and tasted great. Would I attend here for food again, though? No, I wouldn't. Drinks, maybe just because the selection is good. The music is also good.

In Galway city's heart, a tale unfolds, A new pub's story, in whispers it's told. Mary Mullen's Bar, soon to grace our view, On Prospect Hill, where Paddy's once withdrew. In the year of the pandemic's shroud, Paddy's Bar closed, in silence it bowed. But hope now awakens, a rebirth in sight, With each passing day, a new layer of light. The Instagram feed, a teaser to share, Revealing their plans, with a confident flair. A courtyard and food bar, a vision of delight, In Mary Mullen's embrace, we'll gather at night. A drawing emerges, a transformation so bold, The green of Paddy's now dark red, we're told. A change in the facade, a fresh face to see, A new chapter unfolding, where stories will be free. As Galway's locals await with eager hearts, To step through the doors, where a new journey starts. Mary Mullen's Bar, a pub of mystique, In the heart of the city, where memories shall peak. So, raise your glass high, to the pub soon to be, Where laughter and cheer, in abundance we'll see. In Mary Mullen's Bar, as the days become one, We'll toast to the future, where good times are spun.

Great pub! Food was great and the new looks of the pub inside are unreal! Cocktails were well made as well (I recommend the cacao old fashioned). Resting a star cause the waitress came 3 times in the 30' we were eating to see if everything was ok (once is enough, you need to let people enjoy their food in peace) and on the 4th time she started taking our plates when we were still eating our chips! So rude! The same happened to my wife a week ago, so if it's a policy of the place, you might want to ease on that. Other than that the place was great, deffo coming back!

WARNING.....Visited for the first time last night. Music was perfect for our group, not a live band, just like old bangers our age group liked and enjoyed the music and atmosphere,,,until...I started noticing the staff ,in particular the front door men .. Oh,they were on a power trip, very rude and inexperienced. As I was out for a cigarette twice over the night I seen nice guys getting refused for no reason.i seen many drunk lads enter no problem but they picked on the quiet guys. 2nd occasion we shamed the door men to let a guy in as they were giving him a hard time and refusing him ,I spoke to the young guy myself and he seemed like a gent. As the night went on a guy next to use dropped his pint after someone bumped him, this was a busy area inside the front door with many coming and going in all different manners of intoxication. The door man heard the glass break, came in and confronted the guy around 25,he gave him a hard time then proceeded to make the young guy clean up the glass and stood over him after handing him a dustpan and brush. We were disgusted,I asked the doorman would he do this to an elderly person. We paid well for this experience as it was more expensive than the previous pubs I've been to in Galway,we didn't mind the extra price as we were enjoying the music and craic. I spoke to the young guy and told him you payed for a service and it was wrong for him to have to clean up what was an accident. We were appalled and finished our drinks and left. Our group will never enter this place ever again and I'll tell anyone I meet about my night out,and ye younger guys should take this on board and never visit as there's a good chance you'll get a hard time. First time I've ever left a bad review. Never have I ever seen such unprofessional carry on.shame on you. Ye are the talk of the town being soo new after it being a good little pub when it was Paddy's. You let alot of patrons down, AVOID the place people Im giving it one ⭐ only...

Just to add to what others have said here about bouncers.

We were a group in here, using it as a meet up point at start of night and watching the hurling on the big screen. Band was good, bar staff were friendly, place wasn't too busy and we'd a good table.

But then we were told we'd to leave the table as it was now being reserved for a group arriving in 20 minutes. We did but because 1 of our group complained we were now on the naughty list for 1 particular security. After another hour in there, we were told by bar staff we were not to be served. As others arrived to join us (those was still around 9pm), their drinks were confiscated. When we asked why, we were told because we'd made an issue about the table and because we'd brought a hurl in (the hurl at this point had been put behind the bar for the previous 2 hours).

You could see all the other staff were awkward about this decision, and even the manager when we asked to speak with him, was apologetic but had to back this 1 staff member, and we all had to leave. They did give us the confiscated drinks back as we left and the hurl😀

So long story short, seems like a good place but you can be told you've lost your table at last minute, and if you complain certain staff will make it their mission to...
