During my recent visit to Galway, I had the pleasure of dining at Ré Nao, a charming restaurant that combines contemporary Asian cuisine with a vibrant and inviting atmosphere. With its creative menu and welcoming ambiance, Ré Nao offers a delightful dining experience. Here's my review of the dishes I tried: Ambiance: Ré Nao has a trendy and modern vibe, with stylish decor that reflects its Asian-inspired theme. The restaurant is cozy yet spacious, with a lively atmosphere that adds to the overall dining experience. The staff is friendly and attentive, providing excellent service and making guests feel welcome. Menu and Food: Ré Nao's menu showcases a fusion of Asian flavors, and I had the opportunity to try a few standout dishes. First, the Korean Style Sticky Wings caught my attention. These wings were perfectly cooked and coated in a deliciously sticky and tangy sauce, with just the right amount of heat. The combination of flavors was exceptional, and the wings had a satisfying crispiness. They were definitely a highlight of the meal. Next, I ordered the RÉ NAO JIAMO white bao bun. This soft and fluffy steamed bun was filled with succulent and tender meat, which was bursting with flavor. The accompanying sauce added a delightful tanginess, enhancing the overall taste and texture. It was a delicious and satisfying dish that showcased the restaurant's ability to create unique and appetizing combinations. For the dumplings, I opted for the chicken dumplings. These bite-sized delights were expertly prepared, with a thin and delicate wrapper encasing the flavorful filling. The dumplings were perfectly steamed, resulting in a juicy and savory experience. The accompanying dipping sauce complemented the dumplings well, adding an extra layer of flavor. Price and Value: Ré Nao offers a good balance between quality and price. While not the most budget-friendly option, the quality of the ingredients, the skillful preparation, and the overall dining experience justify the cost. The portion sizes were reasonable, and the flavors and presentation of the dishes were top-notch.

Centrally located in Galway, between the Spanish Arch & the Latin Quarter with a river view. Open kitchen, moderate prices, delicious food and warm service. The decor offers traditional Chinese themes presented in a contemporary manner. Blond butcher block wood furniture, chic lighting and cultural elements in every direction: a Chinese traditional painting scroll, musical instruments, art work and calligraphy - styled hanging fabric. A Silk-road map embedded on the floor. Noodle making farm tools and pictures displayed in the corner. And a bar for patrons who are only interested in libations. 5*Gungun Noodles (棍棍) with tofu and sour and spicy Qishan broth: thin and springy wheat noodles were home made, smelled and tasted delicious! The broth was amazing! You can choose the type of noodles, protein, sauce and finish. 4*Liangpi Noodles 手工凉皮 A favorite of the Xi'an Region, Al Dente flat noodles made from wheat starch: flat noodles and sauce were all pretty good, but I prefer a stronger sauce. 4*Freshly Steamed Mussels 蒸青口: mussels were cooked in coconut milk, lemongrass, chilli and basil sauce: portion was generous, the sauce was tasty and the mussels were tender. 4*Goat's Cheese and Tofu Crumble 羊脂豆腐: Sautéed tofu, goat crumble, tomato salsa and grilled courgette finished with an infused balsamic reduction on toasted sourdough: it was like bruschetta, an interesting and creative dish.

If pictures speak 1000 words, feast your eyes on these four pictures. I’ll write a few words, anyway. My wife and colleague (Vietnamese from LA) sat at the bar since the place was full.  Be sure to make reservations, especially on a Saturday night. The vegan friendly menu, deliciously crafted cocktails, and exquisitely prepared Asian fare with strong emphasis on fresh and local ingredients make this the perfect restaurant.  Dishes are cooked as traditionally as possible while everything from the cocktails to the appetizers have their roots based in Asian techniques and flavors. Lime has the swank of New York City, the unassuming attitude of London, Asian diversity found in San Francisco, taste you’d expect of a restaurant in Singapore; perhaps most importantly….the affable Galway charisma. Pearse will wow you with his masterful bartender swagger as he mixes top notch cocktails and Conner the maitre d' (man of the house, manager) will charm you with his hospitable, classy demeanor.  They make the atmosphere very fun and inviting in the front of the house meantime the Malaysian chef and Thai sous chef work their magic behind the scenes.  You’re reminded often that you and your sense are their priority. Make it a point to visit them. Vlad

Good food but the service is terrible. We would not recommend Rè nao and will not be returning.

Myself and my partner had dinner here on a Friday night 18th March. When we arrived we felt a bit dismissed as we were told to "go sit over there" but we thought no big deal we're a few mins late and maybe they're very busy, we've all been there. However, this dismissiveness was the tone of the evening.

Once we sat down we were ignored for 5 to 10 mins while we waited for menus. We were given the normal food menu and a drinks menus without a word from the server. We wanted to ask about the vegan menu and the bubble tea menu we saw on the restaurants website but the server was gone before we even had a chance to ask.

We waited another 15 to 20 minutes for someone to come and take our food order. During this time we tried to get someone's attention to place an order but we were ignored, so we just waited until someone came to us. As we had already waited so long to order and no one was particularly friendly to us we did not want to ask for the vegan menu or bubble tea menu as we already felt like an inconvenience.

The worst thing about the entire experience was the people at the tables seated next to us were receiving much better service. Both tables were politely greeted, offered filtered or tap water, given all the menus and food and drink recommendations etc. We really felt as if we had done something wrong.

As for the food we had pan seared beef dumplings for staters and they were great. We then had broth based dishes for mains. I had the spicy mala pork in broth and the broth was lovely but the a lot of meat was quite fatty and no side was included so I felt like €18.00 was quite overpriced. My partner had the biang biang noddles for his main and he said that was lovely. The meat in his dish was flavoursome and tender however the vegetables in that dish seemed a bit random as it contained peas and carrots although the menu stated it came with different vegetables such as chinese cabbage and bok choi.

At no point during our meal did anyone check on us to ask if everything was ok or if we wanted more drinks etc. And again we noticed the tables beside us were receiving much better service, servers were asking if their food was ok and refilling their water asking if they wanted more drinks etc. We have never felt so unwanted in a restaurant in our entire lives. All we wanted to do was leave.

I didn't eat much of my main because at the point I was just uncomfortable and wanted to leave but I did take it home with me. Once we were finished the manager came to clear our plates, he did not ask us how the food was but he did offer us a dessert menu. We just asked for the bill because we wanted to leave. We had planned to have more drinks and dessert but under the circumstances we really just wanted to leave.

We left feeling like we had spent money to feel like an inconvenience. It was a very disappointing experience that left us...

As a famous Monica would say "the only way for me to go back to this restaurant, is to order 2 meals, one for me & one for the person holding a gun to my head"

Dinning for: 1 couple

Positives: the food was flavoursome (but, way hotter than described on the menu)

Negatives: 1st thing we heard instead of "welcome to our restaurant" was ' we need the table back in 1 hour & 40 minutes, this made our experience feel rushed (Perhaps inform the person when they are booking about such a requirement, as it takes away from the whole dinning experience) My husband ordered chicken & pork wontons ( on the menu it states: deep fried or steamed, we asked for them deep fried, we received steamed) the mains are overpriced * none comes with any carbs you must pay for them separately.

The cocktails: the most overpriced cocktails in Galway! the cheapest cocktail is €10.

Desserts: our booking was for an early dinner (6PM) Saturday night, by this time we were already informed (not prior to ordering, but, coming to our table multiple times telling us that: this & that wasn't available, try to let customers know as servers drop the menus about what isn't available, instead of disturbing multiple times after a order is placed) *selection of ice cream (wasn't much of a selection as from the 5 or 6 flavours available we could only have 3 of the flavours & they were already melted by the time we got them). Too much messing & disturbance. Service wasn't good at all the waitress didn't have attention to detail placing the order incorrectly & coming to our table 3 times due to their lack of management for desserts availability

The open kitchen: (which must be a great feature for some) left my hair & my clothes smelling like I was cooking, the loud conversation in the kitchen took away from our experience too.

The bathroom: nice touch on having tampons & pads free of charge, but, why did you not put a mirror anywhere? I mean the restaurant is beside the Corrib river, in terms of weather is mostly wet & windy, it would be nice for the female customers to be able to touch up their make & adjust their hair and a mirror would be most helpful.

To sum up, if you are trying to book a nice dinner date or romantic date we strongly do not reccommend...
