The Red Elephant — Restaurant in The Borough District of Wexford

We had eaten here before, just after Covid and had a lovely meal so looked forward to eating here again. I had a margarita to start which tasted as if it was straight from some sort of prepared mix and had very little in common with a regular margarita- it was like a flat Fanta lemon and not worth drinking. Starter was good but my main of chicken with cashew nuts was pretty bad. I tasted one piece of chicken and it tasted just wrong - tough and boiled - I ate the vegetables but piled up the chicken on the plate. Brown rice was cooked brown rice. The waitress noticed the chicken but said nothing. The other 2 people with me ate their meals but agreed it was on the low side of average. We won’t be going back. We were in the front of the restaurant and the front door is closed off, so there was no bustle, no atmosphere, we were served our meals but felt very much left to our own devices throughout- we left, pretty...

Visited today for lunch with a friend- I'm vegan and not all places cater for that. Lots of veggie options and the extremely pleasant and professional server checked with the kitchen who assured me they could pretty much tailor anything for me. I had a hankering for satay and despite no main on menu for it they made me one with vegan friendly sauce served on the side of a massive bowl of deliciously cooked veg- a brown rice came with this and all for a tenner- only for i was starved I wouldn't have finished it- my friends main was also €10 and she was equally happy. We were pleasantly surprised to be offered a complimentary scoop of ice cream/sorbet so again sorbet suited my needs. Extremely good value for money, delicious food, lovely premises, very friendly staff with perfect level of service, very central location. When in wexford again I'll defo be going and will be advising anyone I know going...

The waiter was a very nice friendly guy and looked after us very well. He attended to us with the perfect amount of service, not too much, not too little. Service was perfect. We were served our food quickly and were left to finished or starters completely before they bothered us for the main. Timing was impeccable. Even the very nice chef came out to us to explain our dishes to us to ensure we'd be happy. Excellent service. Regarding the food itself, there was a decent amount of vegan dishes, all of which tasted gorgeous. All food was excellent, with good proportions and wonderful flavours, perhaps the best I've ever tried. And the price was fair. Will definitely be back here many times on my many visits to this...
