Went for lunch. The best thing I could say about this place is that it was absolutely "fine". Here's my thoughts:
Menu was quite limited ans was basically pub grub with the odd brunch item. Mainly sandwiches and soup although the soup didn't offer any vegetarian options just chicken.
No baby change facilities we had to bring our baby to the pub next door and as the disabled toilet was engaged we ended up changing her on a couch in the back of the pub. Really unacceptable this day in age for a cafe/restaurant not to have adequate changing facilities.
We ordered and were waiting approx 30 mins for a chicken wrap and eggs Benedict...which was warm at best. Food was ok, but the side salad looked and tasted like it came from a bag.
The staff were friendly, but it has to be said they were v slow...the place was far from busy and they weren't exactly rushed off their feet. It took 15 mins for my coffee to be served.
The cocktails did look decent,so maybe it's more suited to that kind of a vibe. We won't be going back for food any time soon. Price was also quite steep for what we received...like I said, a dressed up pub lunch.
Management really need to address the baby changing situation given the large accessible toilet in the back. There's more than enough room to install a...
Read moreStopped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon. Had the Club sandwich with chips and my wife had the smoked salmon bagel. All the food was well presented. The chips and smoked salmon bagel were very good, but the club sandwich was only OK. Would not order it again. Menu said it had chicken and bacon on it. Found a few thin bacon slices hiding under a slice of lovely tomato. Paper thin. Literally. I had expected proper real bacon at least 1mm in thickness. The chicken breast seemed to have been boiled, not fried or cooked. It was devoid of taste and flavour. But the side salad was tasty and the chips were lovely and came salted. Staff were very good and my coffee (Americano) was good. Lovely venue and we had a great window seat to watch the world go by. Prices were reasonable for Kilkenny. They advertise Tapas on weekend evenings so maybe that would be a better selection.
Seemed very popular with local ladies and wine was prominent on many tables.
Perhaps wine and desert is a...
Read moreAfter being greeted by lovely staff in a great setting I ordered Louies sandwich. When it came out I cut half of it and thought chicken looked alittle odd. Thinking it was the tomato causing it to be red I took afew bites. On closer inspection I realised the chicken was quite raw!!! I showed the other members of the group and all agreed it was very raw, not just alittle pink. I sent it back and was asked would I like another, I was starving and didn't want a fuss so I said yes. Staff apologised but yet still charged me for it. Upon reflection I shouldn't have paid for, as my friend also found a hair in her egg. Nice staff but would not recommend for food as the dishes (once cooked properly) were only...
