I’ve wanted to come to Tacos Luis for a solid year and finally made it happen. I came into Jerusalem to get my eyebrows threaded and needed some lunch that would distract me from the pain of the experience and Tacos Luis’s listing on Google Maps said they weren’t so busy, so I popped over.
Talk about timing! After I arrived about 10 other people showed up, but let me tell you something … Tacos Luis is efficient. More than efficient. They are fast, fast, fast. The line was cleared and people were pounding tacos in mere minutes.
So why the four stars, you ask? Well, I’m gluten free and everything on the menu here is too … except the thing I wanted: fish tacos. shakes fist at the sky Yes, they marinate the fish in beer. I highly recommend they look into BrewDog for a gluten-free beer. But that aside …
I opted instead for three chicken tacos and a glass of limon y’pepino (aka cucumber-limon) and I am both stuffed and happy. My outlook on the day is sunnier as a result of this meal … and I’ve all but forgotten the pain of my eyebrow experience.
Everything here screams fresh. The salads, the guacamole, everything feels light on the palate and the stomach. The tortillas also don’t fall apart, which is a miracle.
Overall Tacos Luis delivers a meal that is light but filling and fresh and I can’t recommend this little taco joint enough. I will be back very soon with kids and...
Read moreWARNING! THE VEGAN TACOS AT TACO LUIS IN JERUSALEM ARE PREPARED WITH MEAT!!! I had the most horrifying experience just now at Taco Luis. After ordering the tacos that are explicitly stated to be vegan, I then watched the man preparing tacos ripping apart meat with his gloved hands over and over, pushing meat from the grill into tacos with those same gloves hands, and while they are dripping with animal flesh, oils, and fats, proceeding to go prepare my vegan tacos without changing gloves. I requested that he put on clean gloves, a blank stare ensues and then he refuses, while the girl at the cash register proceeds to explain to me that “it is a meat restaurant” to which I respond “I know, but when someone orders a vegan dish the reasonable expectation should be that it is vegan and not prepared together with meat, handled with gloves riddled with meat and animal fats. Instead of accommodating me, after waiting almost 15 minutes for my two vegan tacos, she proceeds to hand me back my money. Disgusting and absolutely immoral to advertise anything as vegan when it is handled together with actual meat, and to refuse to simply put on glean gloves when...
Read moreI’m from Texas so my expectations on Mexican food is high. This place does a good job of getting close to my expectations! While the guacamole is a little different from how we are used to, it was still delicious and quickly devoured by our family. We tried all the taco options and all of them were wonderful! Our favorite by far is the steak, it has amazing flavor and very tender. They make the tortillas as they go, so they’re hot and fresh. Salsa is good and the green salsa has a nice kick! They have a delicious coleslaw to top your tacos, as well as many other toppings, and also a nice fresh cucumber side salad. They also have bowls with refried black beans and rice, though we haven’t tried it yet, the ones we have seen look yummy. They have beer and margaritas though when I asked for a margarita they weren’t serving them 🤷♀️🤷♀️.. but that’s okay I just had a beer 🍺. Salsa is pretty good and homemade chips are good enough, they are thick which is different from what we are used too but still good! You won’t be disappointed!! The kids want to eat here everyday 😂. Go get yourself some tacos!
Other bonuses: Clean!!!...
