Caffe' Costantino SAS di Salvo Peluso & C. — Restaurant in Alghero

After an extended walk through the picturesque old part of Alghero with my family, it was getting late for dinner. We came upon a small plaza amidst old historical buildings with several restaurants in close proximity. Not knowing any of the restaurants we decided on Caffe Constatino. From many years of traveling we sat down in full knowledge of the fact that restaurants in prime locations of old cities are usually “tourist traps” in that the quality of the food and the size of the portions typically don’t justify the price. As it turned out, our meals and the prices were okay, all things considered. What ended up really spoiling the dinner and upsetting me personally was the sheer indifference, presumptuousness, arrogance and rudeness of the two waiters. The one collecting the payment could not even afford a Thank You for the tip. To top it off, I went to the toilet before leaving, only to find a bowl without a seat and a sign that requested 50 cents for the preservation of this beautiful place … Arrivederci Caffe Costantino. Unfortunately, I haven't read reviews of this place before I've eaten there - big mistake. I will list a few impressions here: very unprofessional staff (they were arguing a few times in front of us) we've waited around 45 mins to get our orders we've waited around 15 mins to pay for our orders, although there was practically no work to do for the staff (they hat a nice chat at the bar and one waiter went for a smoke at that time - we've been waiting for 10 minutes there already)

The funny thing is, the food wasn't that bad at all (at least what I've ordered). If you have spare 4 hours to eat...

Please avoid this place as far better in Alghero..Very averge food. Pizza came semi warm..lacking flavour and Cotelleta was overcooked and dry. Service so poor and lack of attention. Plus add €4 copperto charge ontop of €7 FOR no service at all. Had to get up to request bill after waiting ages and plates left uncleaned on table anrd then had to get up to request payment..I went to complain to manageress and she did not want to listen to my feedback and instead got defensive and said what do you expect this is italy. Shame as our experience of Alghero food and restaurants has been great except this...
