I recently had the pleasure of visiting Enoteca Gastronomia Il Protontino during my trip to Amalfi, and I must say it was a truly remarkable experience. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a charming ambiance that instantly made me feel welcome.
The staff at Enoteca Gastronomia Il Protontino went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Their knowledge and passion for the local cuisine were evident in every dish that was served. The menu boasted an impressive selection of traditional Italian delicacies, and each bite was a celebration of flavors and textures.
I had the pleasure of trying their signature seafood pasta, and it was absolutely divine. The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the seafood was fresh and succulent, complemented by a delicate sauce that enhanced the natural flavors. The presentation of the dish was exquisite, truly a feast for the eyes as well as the palate.
The wine selection at Enoteca Gastronomia Il Protontino was equally impressive. The sommelier guided me through their extensive list, recommending a local vintage that paired beautifully with my meal. The attention to detail in the pairing elevated the overall dining experience and showcased the establishment's commitment to providing a memorable culinary journey.
What truly sets this establishment apart is the impeccable service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, ensuring that every aspect of my visit was attended to with care. They were more than happy to answer any questions I had and provided excellent recommendations based on my preferences.
Furthermore, the atmosphere at Enoteca Gastronomia Il Protontino was charming and cozy, creating the perfect setting for a memorable evening. The decor was tastefully done, capturing the essence of Amalfi's coastal charm.
I highly recommend Enoteca Gastronomia Il Protontino to anyone visiting Amalfi. Whether you're a food enthusiast, a wine connoisseur, or simply someone looking for an exceptional dining experience, this place is a must-visit. Prepare to be treated to a culinary journey that combines authentic Italian flavors, impeccable service, and a warm and inviting atmosphere. I can't wait to return and explore more...

We were immediately asked by a waiter if we prefer “sparkling” or “still” water to which my friend said “still”, but then I remembered we still have some water bottles that we just bought which will save us a few euros (who spends money for water when you’re in Europe anyways?) then as we sat, only a few minutes later, a waitress (not sure coz she acted like the manager) asked us again— still or sparkling? And we said, “not for now thanks”. She, then, removed the glasses set on the table and proceeded to take our orders. We gave her our orders and asked how many minutes it’ll take for our food to be served, “it’s fresh so it will take a while about 20 minutes” “any drinks?” then she made a face when we said we don’t want any, for now. A few moments later, a big group of people left and we’d like to transfer tables to sit at cause we were sat by the entrance which we didn’t feel comfortable eating at to be honest to which she said, “no these are only for 2 people” (we were 3). And I said, “where are they?” And then she said “they have a reservation”. I said “ok understood”. Then comes our food, indeed it tasted fresh. Carbonara di mare was nice and the caprese too. Sea bream was just okay, i am not a fan of steamed fish but I can say that it was fresh. We finished in more or less than 20 mins, no people came (with reservation). After paying for the bill, the lady spoke to one of my friends and told her to talk to me that she heard we were talking about giving a bad review. What we said was to give a review, we didn’t say we’ll give a bad one. Why did she assume that? She even said that they have a camera to prove that I was rude? Yes I was the friend she was talking about. So now I am giving a review— the food was very nice, had the customer service been good, i would have given 2 stars.
P.S. my friend...

But worst of all, when we wanted to split the bill two ways (just dividing the total, not splitting individual line items), the lady ringing us up rounded up the amounts at multiple steps when doing the math.
First she rounded up the total amount, then rounded up the per person cost (I could see her doing the math on her phone). We ended up paying 4.50€ more than the actual bill amount.
Not a huge difference, but insulting and dishonest. Do not recommend any business that is willing to blatantly cheat their customers like that. This restaurant was a stain on our otherwise excellent dining experience in Italy.
EDIT REPLY: The mussels were not all open and I HIGHLY doubt you actually bothered to check them. We were willing to overlook this because the food was otherwise good. Believe it or not, some customers do not want confrontation to ruin an otherwise decent meal. This wasn't the main point anyways.
Our bill was 191.50€. The owner put 192 into her calculator. Then divided by 5, she rounded up to 39€ per person. I know because our portion for two people was 78€, and I watched her do it on her calculator.
39€ x 5 = 195€. This is the same rate you charged the other party (39 x 3). And yet, our original bill was 191.50€. It's comical that you would try to defend your obvious cheating behavior and call me ridiculous. You knew EXACTLY what...
