Our favorite restaurant during all 4 days of visiting the Amalfi area (including Positano, Praiano, Ravello, Sorrento & Minori), definitely a must visit!! We liked it so much that we came for dinner twice in a row :)
On the first dinner, for starters we ordered the insalata di caterina with lettuce, rocket leaves, cherry tomatoes and grilled zucchini which was very refreshing, and the Crocche di patate (a fried ball of potato puree filled with a center of oozing mozzarella cheese) which was so good and comforting. For mains we tried their Teddy pizza (recommended by the waiter) and it was soooo good! With unmelted buffalo mozzarella, ricotta cheese, cherry tomatoes and garlic - it might sound super simple but it lets the high quality products speak so it was the best pizza I had in the Amalfi area. We also ordered the ricotta ravioli in creamy lemon sauce which was nothing less but divine, and so light!
On the second dinner we wanted to try some other dishes and we also weren't so hungry so for starters we ordered the Arancini which gave the same experience as the Crocche di patate but with rice instead of potato puree, and their mixed salad (lettuce, cherry tomatoes and rocket leaves). For mains we went even more simple with the pizza and ordered their Diavola pizza (with spiced salami) which was so tasty
The staff is super kind even though the restaurant is always packed and take into account that there's usually a long waiting line, so make sure to make a reservation in advance if it's possible, as they prioritize tables with a booking.
To conclude, we'll definitely come back the next time we're in Amalfi, super recommended with an amazing environment sitting under a grid of lemon vines - 5/5 in all of...
Read moreStay away! Terrible service - rude owners. Family pre-wedding event paid top dollar for whole restaurant only to find they decided to allow others bookings as well.
This meant that when last arrivals came (due to later ferry) they were denied seating due to a full restaurant even though they were the Bride's parents and siblings etc!
The owner, upon questioning this became very belligerent and argumentative, and did not care at all that she was asking them to leave the venue that had been pre-booked for our party.
She proceeded to say that we were too loud - lady you took a booking and thousands upon thousands of dollars for 50+ people!
I have been in the hospitality industry for years and know whole heartedly that the behaviour and noise levels were that of a crowd of 50 people talking, laughing and enjoying a once in a life-time experience.
No anti-social behaviour, knocked tables, broken glasses etc that you may expect upon being told your party is too rowdy and noisy! Our booking was for 6pm - before 9pm the owner had kicked brides family out without a meal, yelled at someone for attempting to open an umbrella when it rained which did unfortunately, by pure accident knock the bulb of an above light string off which she apologised profusely for. She then cut event short - stopped food and beverage service before 9pm.
I have seen prior reviews about the rude service here and as a fellow hospitality worker took it with a grain of salt - but in all my years I have never witnessed a more indifferent, arrogant owner before.
Avoid at all costs - She has lost the meaning of customer service and the appreciation that the tourists visiting keep her business going. Her disdain for foreigners was clear for...
Read moreWe chose Donna Stella to host a welcome lunch for over 80 guests, and it could not have been more perfect. Many of our guests had already planned to dine at Donna Stella during their stay in Amalfi, so they were delighted (and pleasantly surprised) when they found out that’s where we were celebrating.
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with delicious focaccia bread and prosecco, the perfect start. The appetizers, including fresh caprese and agrumi salad, were outstanding. The gnocchi was excellent, and the pizza was the highlight of the meal. Everyone raved about it, with the lemon ricotta pizza being the crowd favorite. For dessert, the lemon sorbet tied in perfectly with the Amalfi theme.
The setting itself was magical. Dining under the lemon trees felt so special and so beautiful, it could have easily been a wedding reception. The staff was warm, kind, and attentive, and from the very beginning they were incredibly accommodating in answering all of my questions during planning.
Our guests could not stop talking about how wonderful everything was, and for many who had never been to Italy before, it was the perfect first impression and welcome. Donna Stella truly set the tone for the rest of our wedding celebrations, and we couldn’t be happier with...
