My girlfriend and I was visiting Bari for 1 week, and we found this awesome restaurant on our first day.
Throughout our stay, we tried several more restaurants - but we were never really satisfied with any of them. In the end we always came back to you guys (L'Osteria Del Borgo Antico.)
Everything is 5/5 star here!
The food is really delicious & special. The portions are huge, we ate ourselves full everytime. There’s a large selection on the menu: appetizers, first and second courses, desserts and wine.
The prices are reasonable here. They’re not expensive, but of course not cheap too. (If you want to eat cheap, go to the local SPAR and buy yourself a frozen pizza..)
The place is very cozy and clean. Both in the inside, and outside. The temperature is just right, they have air conditioners - so you don’t have to worry about sweating.
The staff is very professional, but in the same time really friendly & kind. Some reviewers said that they are “rude”: this is not true. The staff is doing it’s job at a fast pace, but only for the benefit of the costumers (fast service)
So overall experience: 5/5, next time we visit Bari, we’ll come back to eat...
Read moreThe staff were lovely and welcoming and the restaurant was a cute little extension of an old building in a piazza off the main mercantile square. I ordered the orrichiette, the locally famous pasta shape, but requested it without the anchovies. I stared it to the waiter a couple of times, both in English and Italian. The wine and bread arrived and both were very nice. We'd ordered a starter of mushrooms in garlic and olive oil and they were lacking in both. Nothing special but we were looking forward to the traditional pasta dishes of Bari. My pasta arrived WITH anchovies. 🤦♀️ By this time several other tables had been filled and the team were busy so I picked the fish out and ate my pasta, not the end of the world. My partner had ordered the orrichiette with meatballs but found that they had been cooked with cocktails stocks inside that we were not told about. It was a bit surprising to find two of them in the plate whilst breaking up the meatballs to distribute the meat through the tomato based dish. Apart from this, it was a nice little place with lovely staff and...
Read moreHighly disappointed with this place! We arrived and waited for 10 minutes for the menu. Once we have received it we asked the waiter twice if we can place the order. When he finally approached us, he informed us we cannot order food just yet, only drinks. While we were not pleased to hear that, we ordered drinks. We waited for the wine and a cocktail for 15 minutes. Having not received it, and seeing the table next who us which ordered wine after us sipping their wine, we have decided to leave. We have spent 35 minutes in the restaurant, have not managed to order food and we have not received the drinks we have ordered. Waiters were annoyed when we were kindly reminding them about collecting our order. For this very reason we give one star. Especially that nearby there are tons of highly rated places where we have...
