First I would like to say I am a chef from the United States that has spent many hours in restaurants and kitchens. We decided to dine here while walking around bellagio. We were first greeted by a nice and welcoming manager who gave us menu and wine suggestions which was great. After ordering our wine and entrees we informed him that our friend is allergic to all seafood. After he poured our wine he informed us he brought the wrong bottle which of course was more expensive than the one we ordered. Instead of apologizing for his “mistake” we haggled that we would pay an additional $10 for the wine he gave us. The restaurant advertises homemade pasta (which I have spent many hours doing) and it is clearly not homemade or they need to work on their technique. Overcooked, over sauced and a salt bomb would not recommend. Also while trying to enjoy our dinner I noticed the “chef” coming out to the bar and pouring himself a tall beer. Trust me I understand having a cold beer AFTER dinner service but while guest are sitting in the restaurant is very unprofessional. The final straw for us is after telling the manager our friend is allergic to all seafood he is not experiencing allergic reaction symptoms. If you cannot be bothered to wash your hands, wear a glove or switch out cooking utensils you should have no business cooking in a professional kitchen. Also the steak was...
Read moreI had high hopes for this restaurant given the positive reviews. We tried to dine here on Monday and were told “no” even though there was no line. It was fine because we walked a few steps up the street and had a delicious meal at la dolce vita (pasta bolognese).
We came back the next day to try it again because it was highly rated. Let me tell you besides the burrata starter which is pretty difficult to screw up, the food here is near inedible. I had the lasagna which sounded interesting on paper. In reality it was thin sheets of gummy pasta drowning in a white cream sauce with almost no pesto flavor. I am not a picky eater and could not stomach it. Literally revolting. My kids had gnocchi which was passable but so plain the sauce tasted like chef boyardee canned pasta. My husband had seafood pasta which he ate. I asked for a bite to see if my dish was just an outlier and when I tried it I spit it into a napkin. Disgusting pasta with no bite to it and a rancid seafood flavor water-sauce.
We got out of there as fast as possible. I don’t normally trash places but something is wrong with the reviews here - maybe they paid a review farm. The food is horrible and I wouldn’t want tourists who spent a lot of money to experience Bellagio to waste...
Read moreMy wife and I went here on our last night in Bellagio. The best restaurant/food that we had of all the places we tried around town. Not saying others weren’t good, but this place exceeded expectations.
I had veal medallions in an delicious sauce with some of the best roasted potatoes ever. My wife loved her eggplant parmesan. The house white wine was smooth and delicious. And when ordering the wine, he even suggested we get 0.5L to split (cheaper and more than when we originally ordered two separate glasses).
The service was the best I’ve seen so far, a very nice and comical husband and wife team serving. Quick to take orders, the length of time to get our drinks, appetizer and meals felt proper. Not so fast that it was just heated up but not too long that we felt like we were waiting.
The ambience was great, a small restaurant but a neat grotto feel.
Make sure you don’t arrive too late! We noticed that they had sold out of the veal and tiramisu when the couple next to us ordered 45min after us. Which honestly I appreciate because it means their food is fresh, but still, I’m sure disappointing for them.
Can’t recommend this place enough, and I can be...
