With my wife we arrived on time at 8:30 when we had the reservation . By 8:45 we gave the order to the gay (who seemed to be the owner) for the food and the wine. The first antipasto arrived at 9:15 .30 minutes for a plateau misto of sarcuterie with average quality and a salad called zartiniera (pickled vegetables )By 10:00 45 minutes later the primi piati arrived. One plate of Tortellini called “different “ which was very salty impossible to eat and talioglini stuffed with ricotta mixed with courgette which was flat and indifferent .we had ordered vitello as second which by 10:20 it had not arrived and when we said it to the owner he apologised saying that this was his fault , he misunderstood etc. we told him not to bother because we were sitting there for two hrs and we lost our appetite. Two minutes later he came back again saying that they did not prepared the plate because the waiter saw our primi piati half full (as it was impossible to eat) and so they guessed that we did not want it!!! Just for the records we paid 124,5 euros for a lousy dinner: all I mentioned before plus two desserts and the bottle of the wine at 23 euros. Very expensive for what it was!! And the receipt was a piece of paper with hand writing.. Indifferent to average food.extremely slow service by the kitchen showing that the restaurant was heavily overbooked no matter how good the waiters could be, very pour ambience and owner s unacceptable attitude. In a decent restaurant as it supposed to be the Bottega when you return your plate half eaten somebody asks why… Guide Michelin let us down...
Read moreIf I could give a 10 for the service I would! Everyone was so lovely- But the tall gentleman who seemed to be a head waiter, was incredibly lovely and welcoming, we didn’t have a booking for lunch but allowed us to wait for 20 minutes to find us a table, in that time we sat outside and enjoyed a lovely sparking wine that he recommended and a snack. When we got our table we sat down, waiters offered to take our coats and bags. We wanted everything from the menu, so enlisted our great waiter to recommend something for us- he did not disappoint! You MUST get the lardo to start. The pasta with artichoke and cured meat was probably the best plate of food I’ve ever eaten. The first day we had the poached pear - simple and divine. The second day we had the milk pudding - incredible and annoyed that I didn’t pack some in my suitcase home. We both left here feeling like we were being hugged by our stomachs! We proceeded to book a table for lunch the next day. I’ve eaten at around 8/9 of the well known restaurants in Bologna - this was the top. I did also say to my partner that it may be my new favourite restaurant and that I may have cheated on him with my pasta. I will be back!!!! @michelin - Bib...
Read moreWe had the Lasagna, arguably the best lasagna I have ever had, and I am Italian. If my grandma heard this she would disown me.
But the problem was with the service. When the staff realised that my partner and I were two broke college student trying to make a two-day stay in Bologna on a budget, and "only" ordered a Lasagna each, which by the way was still 18 Euros the lasagna, they started treating us poorly, ignoring when we called them and having an arrogant attitude to the situation. It was also a shock when we only ordered water instead of wine. The server grimmed the entire time, as if we were doing him a favour by being there.
Food is everything in the restaurant industry, but treating two students, quite honestly, like trash, because we cannot afford anything more than lasagna and water tells a lot about what kind of people run this business.
Overall, Lasagna (although the portion was a bit small for the price): 10/10 Service: 0/10
If you want to eat great food, but get treated badly if you're on a budget, this is the...
