The interior is charming, with a rustic vibe that makes the whole experience even more special.
The service at Ana Maria is absolutely outstanding. The staff, including the host and waiters, are incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming, going out of their way to ensure you have a wonderful dining experience. Their attention to detail and hospitality really stood out and made the evening memorable.
I was drawn to this restaurant after reading glowing reviews about their lasagna, and it truly lived up to the hype. It was hands down one of the best lasagnas I’ve ever had—perfectly layered, rich in flavor, and cooked to perfection. My partner opted for the green tagliatelle with ragù, and I couldn’t resist trying a bite. It was equally fantastic, with fresh pasta and a rich, savory sauce that highlighted the dish’s traditional roots.
To complement the meal, we enjoyed a glass of the house wine, which was decent and paired well with our food. The desserts were another highlight—beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, the perfect way to end a fantastic meal.
One thing that truly stands out about Ana Maria Trattoria is the clientele. The restaurant is filled with locals, which is always a great sign of a quality establishment. It’s clear that this is a beloved spot for those who appreciate traditional, well-prepared Italian cuisine.
If you're looking for an authentic dining experience in Bologna, especially if you want to avoid the usual tourist traps, Ana Maria Trattoria is the place to go. The cozy atmosphere, top-notch service, and incredible food—particularly the lasagna—make it a must-visit. Highly recommended for anyone seeking the true...
Read moreI don't usually do this but I got to share it since this incident almost ruined our entire memories of this travel.
The food was ok but the service was awful. Me and my wife were noticed that we didn't have a bottle of sparkling water that we ordered earlier after eating. We thought we are fine without it, so we asked for a check. However, the bottle of water was counted as we ordered. So, we asked one of the fifties - sixties woman with glasses who mainly served our table about it. And she said "Non è possibile! Dovrebbe essere qui prima e qualcuno lo porta via dopo. (It is not possible! It should be here earlier and someone take it away after.) " There are only two waiter (one is fifties - sixties woman with glasses and the other one is blonde twenties man who looks like German.) at our section. She didn't even try to find out the truth and treated us as a "liar". She reduced two euro from our check at the end, but that was not what we wanted. We just wanted one permission.
Anyway, you can find inverted glasses on the top right corner of the picture of salami. These glasses are for the water and the water usually served before any dished. This picture said that water was not served before the...
Read moreThe most overrated and outdated ‘trattoria’ in bologna. Nothing like the Anna Maria we came to last year (2018). The meals containing ragu were fine but nothing special. My mother got a sick stomach from the gnochhi with gorgonzola. I am sure there are many other options which are at least as good and much cheaper. Way too overpriced (15$ for tagliatelle al ragu). Service was terrible, slow and segregational towards tourists. They gave us the most cramped, damp place and there was no air conditioning. The tiramisu they gave us was only 4 spoonfulls (we were 4 people) and it was the worst tiramisu of my life. It was also a fraction of what they served the locals. The pretentious front of house who could only shake her head when we came in turned into the most motivated person when we asked for the check. As you would have predicted by now, I definitely do not recommend Trattoria Anna Maria, especially when there are so many...
