Cremeria Mascarella — Restaurant in Bologna

Ok seriously, this is THE BEST gelato place we’ve visited in Italy during our 9-day trip across Rome, Florence, Cinque Terre and Bologna. We got here at 7.30pm-ish to an empty shop (presumably as it’s peak dinner time) which caused some doubts in our party… But boy, were we glad to be surprised. The gelato was excellent... we went to Cremeria Mascarella several times and the quality and taste were absolutely world class 😍 There are lots of vegan varieties and a large selection of granitas.

The pistachio tastes exactly as it should. The gelato is freshly prepared at the back and served with love at the front counter. If you want to eat gelato at the highest level, this is the right place...

Delicious ice cream stored in metal tubs in front of the counter. The staff are super friendly and speak English. You get a small waffle wafer in your ice cream, and can choose up to 2 flavours with the piccolo and 3 flavours in the medio.
