Gil & Bert — Restaurant in Bologna

Came here a few times thinking a not so great experience was a one off yet it only got worse. We went there more than once only because there was a wonderful staff member that was working there that made fantastic drinks who doesn’t work there anymore. .

This place has so much potential but the management is absolutely terrible.

The staff are complacent and not attentive mostly due to the owners lack of training her staff to understand the importance of customer service and presentation. The owner was also mistreating her staff in front of customers. The place has a very negative vibe..

The staff often stood outside the doorway entrance and smoked cigarettes with the owner.. whilst customers arrived and waited to be served. The owner sits outside and stares at every customer unpleasantly. She’s rude and arrogant and not at all hospitable.. never says hello and thank you and just isn’t polite .. and has a huge staring problem.

The only pro was there was lots of space to sit. We were a large group of 13 there just for coffee. The older of the three staff members went into complete panic mode and asked to make sure we weren't ordering food. In the end one of us wrote down the order for everyone and took it inside to make it easier, I guess. Then a few of us were going back and forth bringing our own drinks out on trays, not the staff. There was confusion by another staff member when the price on the menu didn't match what was coming up on his screen, so he went to ask the third staff member who grunted and said to use the higher price. I questioned it but was told no. It was too late anyway, I'd already half-drunk my "white hot chocolate", which tasted like warm milk. We paid and left. Won't be...

This place is an absolute gem. We came across it not looking for a bar to eat. Only wanted one cocktail and ended up having a full blown meal and multiple cocktails because everything was so G-O-O-D. I particularly enjoyed the Amaretto sunrise, one of the best cocktails I ever had. My children feel a little sick at the moment but that is to be expected after 2 Nutella waffles and everything else they downed. Wife is still struggling with the baked camembert but it looks like she will defeat it, not much left now. Highly recommend this place. Service and atmosphere wonderful, particularly given the sometimes not so warm attitude towards obvious tourists (we all speak English, so does not get much worse in terms of outing...
