Osteria della Lanterna — Restaurant in Bologna

I just wanna say: WOW! I was expecting this great service and warming hospitality from an Osteria. I gotta say, I wouldn’t expect it even from a restaurant.

The manager and the waiter were so friendly and attentive. They just knew what they were doing!

The ambience just amazing. It reminds me of the old Osterias of Bologna. It still gives you that unique antique vibe that only few still have around the city.

Last but not least, the food. Just amazing. The cotoletta alla petroniana, the typical cotoletta of Bologna was out of this world. It was crispy, tender, juicy, and all the flavours were right on point where you wanted them. The perfect balance. And what about the truffle. Just an impeccable touch that makes this dish unique!

This place was so good i am shocked the rating is not higher. Tucked away on a small lane inside the Quadrilateral but away from the tourists. Small, maybe 40 seats split between 2 dining rooms. On a Sunday when i was there it was all locals. About 8 selections for Primi and the same for Secondi. Many dishes that i couldn't find in US Italian restaurants. I had a straw and hay pasta followed by veal done Bolognese style topped with truffles. Superb. Service was top notch as well though they were busy with regulars. I had local Sangiovese wine and they offer a complimentary glass of prosecco as you sit down. And the prices were so reasonable, i couldn't believe it. Partendo dalla premessa che io e la mia amica siamo giusto un poco poco svampite, e che è solo al momento del nostro ingresso che abbiamo collegato che il titolare al bancone è uno dei 4 partecipanti al programma di borghese (l'avevamo scelto per la zona e il menù), siamo rimaste ancor più piacevolmente stupite perché sia per la prima telefonata per prenotare che la seconda per segnalare dieci minuti di ritardo, lui è sempre stato davvero spontaneamente squisito, senza darsi un minimo tono ma comportandosi da gran ristoratore anche per il resto della serata. Ci hanno accolte con un buon assaggio dalla cucina ed una flute di prosecco, gesti sempre più spesso appartenenti a ristoranti di fascia economica più alta, un riguardo che certamente colpisce. Proseguiamo con gli antipasti scelti ovvero il flan di zucca con pancetta e le melanzane in tortino; la prima buonissima ed equilibrata, con la pancetta croccante sbriciolata, ma la seconda un godimento autentico, fritta -perché fritta si deve fare, punto!- bella pornografica. Mentre per le due porzioni di cotoletta il peccato si è fatto più impegnativo e voluttuoso per la ricchezza che caratterizza questa preparazione. Purtroppo per me la fame non era quasi presente, motivo per cui l'ho fatta incartare per portarla a casa, ma merita i chili che sicuramente vi regalerà l'esperienza. Ringrazio inoltre per il tavolo che ci avevano tenuto, l'unico che si trova nel corridoio che collega le due sale, quindi ideale per chiacchierare, romantico anche per noi due che non siamo una coppia ma amiamo l'intimità e meno il chiasso. Nonostante il pienone, l'avanti e indietro dei clienti che si avvicendavano, c'è sempre stata molta serenità e tranquillità nel proprietario, che per l'età è cosa rara. Altro appunto, non conoscevo la zona in cui si trova ubicato, e trovo sia una delle zone più belle di Bologna. Grazie ancora per la serata, da ripetere per portarsi dietro...
