The restaurant is quite cozy, when we visited it a few summers ago we (me and my sister) sat outside in the shade. Before the meal, they brought you a baguette and some grated cheese in case you needed extra - both of which is a fairly common practice in Italy. The restaurant menu was short and thoughtful, and I was interested in more than one of the dishes on offer there. However, when you dine in the city where the first tortellini dumplings were manufactured (as reflected in all the tourist gift shops), it would seem strange not to try them.
I had tortellini dumplings filled with cream cheese and spinach, served in a walnut sauce. The dumplings were soft and you could feel that they were very fresh. For dessert, tiramisu was chosen, which also left a very pleasant impression. The tiramisu cream was very soft and melted in my mouth. I would definitely call it one of the best ones I have ever had.
I quite liked the fact that in Italy the waiters are generally relaxed and don't feel the need to ask you 3 times 'is everything OK? is there anything missing?'. After bringing your order, after a while they might ask you if it's good, but then they'll probably back off. You go to pay when you're ready - it looked like you could sit still for hours if there were no other people waiting for a seat. However, I would find it rude to do so, which is why I don't really stay in cafés after I've eaten. Especially when travelling - after all, there is always something to see besides a plate of lovely and...
Read moreSadly a very bad experience. I went there with my friend, wanting to end our long Italy trip with a lovely dinner. The place looked very inviting and the waitress who seated us was also lovely. Unfortunately the food wasn't good and this is the first time in my life that I actually had to send something back, which I did in the most respectful quiet way, not to put them in an uncomfortable situation in front of the other guests. The waiter who came out this time was the only one who actually cared and he wanted to offer other options but sadly at that point as my friend was also disappointed with what she ordered, I wasn't interested in a replacement order. He was really friendly though which I appreciated a lot, especially when the older italian waiter came out, asked where were from then proceeded to mock us about our taste and knowledge in food, because what else could be the reason for us not liking what they offer. He was incredibly rude and disrespectful. We were as nice as possible up to that point, albeit disappointed but we didn't make a scene or anything and wasn't planning on writing a review, his rudeness ruined the experience even more and actually forced us to say something. I'm sure we will get a snarky reply from the owner. Just take a look at all their 1 star reviews, which I wish we would've read beforehand. Working in customer service makes me horrified at the way he responds to...
Read moreFrom the outside, it looked the perfect place to try original bolognese from Bologna in a typical trattoria setting….well it was far from it. Service and atmosphere was severely lacking, considering there were only 3 tables at the time in the restaurant. The young waiter did not know really what he was doing and the senior waiter watching him, was more interested in his phone than the service. I am sure that the cold meat and cheese platter could was from Aldi and was over-priced. The bread, served in bag, was dry and not served with any butter. We had to ask and wait 10-15mins before that arrived. The main course was ok but nothing special, no salt and pepper on the table and served with more dry bread, parmesan cheese delivered minutes after. The white wine was not chilled enough and even they mixed up the glasses. Its not difficult to get that wrong! There was no real service like we were a burden to them. The bill came to €61 which included a €3 each (€6) seat charge. Usually we would leave a 20% tip but no chance this time. A tip is earned through the service you give and here was none. Would I recommend this place? Absolutely not, just walk on by and find...
