While they were kind enough to seat us on a busy Friday night, we’re not sure why they bothered when they clearly didn’t want us sticking around. The two of us shared an app, ordered firsts, and seconds. The firsts were adequate; I will note the bread was delicious, but when we were done with them, leaving plenty of food behind to make sure we had room for our second courses, the waiter started clearing our entire table. We explained we still had food coming; he didn’t seem to care. We flagged down someone else, who grabbed someone who spoke some English, and they said our food was coming and ignored our explanation that we no longer had our bread, silverware, oil and vinegar, etc. After another 20 minutes of waiting at our now empty table, our waiter (the same one who TOOK our order and even repeated it to us!) grabbed a manager and rudely pointed at us. She came over and asked if there was something else we needed. We explained we ordered second courses! She seemed confused so we just asked for a check, which she then never brought. I finally just got up and went to the counter and she rang up the dishes we did receive - no explanation, no apology, nothing. This was our final meal in Bologna and we were so disappointed I wanted to cry. Avoid this place. Mediocre food and far...
Read moreOur first restaurant in Bologna after a long train trip - and we were underwhelmed.
We got bread while we waited for the ordered food but no plates. When the waitress saw we dripped oil on our bread she finally brought a plate with horror on her face - as if it’s our mistake we didn’t get a plate. My girlfriend and I had Lasagne and a side salad. The salad wasn’t on the menu so bonus point on service.
The Lasagne however was 50% Béchamel sauce (see picture), barely any meat sauce and some pretty green pasta plates. Thus it looked great but tasted very bland (we helped ourselves to heaps of Parmesan) and we felt we were still hungry after this meal. Honestly, we both thought a Lasagne you can buy in a German supermarket wouldn’t taste much different. Maybe we had a bad day, maybe their cook had a bad day. Either way, not a good start for...
Read moreWe had just arrived in Bologna and were looking for somewhere close to have lunch. We ended up at here. Immediately the waitress who sat us gave us a little bit of the cold shoulder but it wasn’t extremely evident until we noticed her and the other male waiter staring at our table. When ordering food and drinks the waitress was very short with us and she subtly questioned our choice in wine. Every other table was offered water, olive oil and vinegar and a selection of bread, unlike us. The food was delicious but the service made the experience not so great. We also noticed the waiter rolling his eyes when taking our plates away. When we asked for the bill the waiter was extremely short with us saying “allora” instead of “prego” like he was with the table...
