Curtigghiu — Restaurant in Catania

We chose to dine in this "lovely" restaurant based on the latest positive reviews only to be surprised by how unpleasant, unsatisfying, and bad the service and my food were. They really ruined our last evening in Catania. Food related: I had a Lasagna Swordfish which was tasteless and looked nothing like lasagna. My partner had a Carbonara which tasted okay. Service related: Table service was so slow, not welcoming, and not up to the Coperto they get (2 euros per person) We were treated unfairly when we requested a table for 2 from the responsible person in this place. They confirmed a 20 min waiting time only to notice they let other people sit without reservation. They notice me looking 'curious and interested' why keeping us wait. Finally, this responsible person realises I see what they are doing only to call us to sit in one of their many empty tables.

Overall, the atmosphere/location of this restaurant is amazing! I recommend eating there if you don't mind bad service and not choose Lasagna otherwise it is worth trying other neighbouring...

I just came out the restaurant 5 minutes ago. How is it that I just had the WOST PASTA experience, And In ITALY?!?! I’ve traveled throughout all Italy and today is my first night here and chose this place based off reviews plus pictures. I got the carbonara and at first glance it looks “nice” but I take a bit and the Pasta was Raw! Sauce also lacking and not enough. That was simply Not a carbonara. How embarrassing for the Italian culture. Worst pasta experience and in Italy 🤌🏼 Not acceptable. I ate most of it after they recooked it because honestly I was starving, we even traveled 10 mins from our hotel for this place. My friends meat balls where Bright pink Raw in the center, unbelievable! His food side was sliced tomato and cheese from the bag, my goodnesssssss…. The servers removed the pasta from the bill but at the end it’s a culture embarrassment for Italy this restaurant. Servers no complaint, as servers they did their job in a professional way. Man, later on or tomorrow I will have a stomach ache over bad pasta in an Italian restaurant...

Typical tourist trap restaurant like almost all the others in the same street… you are in a nice lively narrow street ambience, sitting outside with small lights around you. The waiters are friendly and helpful. We have ordered pasta parmigiana and traditional carbonara. Unfortunately carbonara plate came truly cold and we have returned it. First we had to share the parmigiana which was very mediocre and that you could find in any poor quality Italian restaurant in Northern Europe… on top of all it was too much salty. Long minutes later we were served again the carbonara and it was the same plate but re-heated !! Very disappointing ! The wine we have ordered wasn’t available but we have been recommended another one...
