Ghisa — Restaurant in Catania

This was one of the most disappointing places I have ever been to. I never experienced a worse service than this. First thing-Waititer was not interested in serving us-we had to call him specially to order some food. We asked for drinks-and he said he would bring a bar attendent to help us choose (which never happned), but we decided to stay for the food (which never came)-We ordered bruschetta, ceasar salad, ribs, 2 pasta and gnocchi-the salad and beuschetta came after 20 minutes (which is a bit slow but still acceptable)-the other dishes-took another 30 minutes (so 50 minutes in total)-and we started asking where is our food-the waiters did not pay any attention to us-they said-2 minutes (another 10 passed)-4 tables (with Italians-that sat down after us) got their food on the table-we were still waiting-went to complain to the woman in charge of them-and she was abaolutelly awful-arogant and ignorant. Instead of asking us (pretending she cares or whatever)-she started accusing us of not being patient enough... After that she started yelling at us, that she only had 1 cook in the kitchen (like that was our problem) and we wanted to just pay for the Salad and Bruschetta... And when I saw the bill there were items on there That We DIDNT EVEN ORDER from the menu. So we got really pissed off-payed what we Owed and left... Please (if you are foreigner) Don't go there-you WILL definitelly be disappoined !!! This was the first time I ever walk out from a restaurant-Normally I am very patient, since I have been in the industry over 10 years-and a headchef now... Trust me, you don't want to deal.with these people... I actually feel bad for the chef-if they really let him be alone on 5 tables... but I will definitelly give a formal complaint to the manager-about that woman, and...

We visited this restaurant in a group of 4 people for dinner and drinks. We have to rate this experience significantly below average, it's both because of food and service.

We ordered 4 different pasts: 2 out of 3 were cold/softly warm, one dish was missing. We finished our food and still had to wait for the last pasta to come. Cutlery was missing - we got it after few minutes of waiting with our food in front of us. Once the last missing pasta finally arrived a waiter, instead of apologizing for the mistake with our order, asked our friend in a very RUDE way: "Do you need some fork and knife?!". We were very surprised as this kind of attitude towards customers doesn't happen often these days. Food - mostly cold and rather average. But grilled vegetables (side dish) were UNEATABLE (4 of us agreed on this one without any doubts). Burned, very bitter and smelled like old olive oil. I couldn't get rid of this aftertaste for the rest of the evening.

The final surprise came when our friend wanted to pack her gnocchi (in a very thin, creamy sauce) for takeaway. Waiter handed her an unassembled carton box - a similar to those which you will use to pack a piece of clothing for shipping. No foil, napkin, anything that will protect this kind of food.

I went here with my girlfriend and we ordered the Encontrotte steak which we both really enjoyed. The side dish of vegetables was also delicious.

We were disappointed however with the fact that the menu does not state that the steak comes with potatoes (see pics). We therefore ordered a side of potatoes which went untouched as we already had potatoes included with our steak. It would have been nice if the waitress explained potatoes are already included with meat upon ordering an additional side of potatoes.

Upon informing the staff, we were told that the menu says steak includes potatoes despite showing them the menu does not. We were charged for these potatoes despite the fact they were uneaten because of this discrepancy. The boss did not apologise either.

The food was good but I felt that the service was unfriendly when an issue was raised. Especially as this restaurant charges premium prices.
