Sicily #10, Catania #10, Pasticceria/bakery #1, Cafe #2: found this place while searching Google Maps one hungry morning. Couldn't believe how many good ratings this place had, and it didn't disappoint. From the moment you walk in, it feels like you're being transported back in time. I love how all the pastries/food is displayed. We ordered: fagottino 🐷 🧀 🍅 €2,5, brioche 🥐 €1,4, and a colazione 🍩 €1,6 (chocolate filled fried donut). Honestly, all three items were great. So great I went back the next day and added a cream-filled donut to the mix. It's a bit confusing how to order, but you pay first and then give your receipt to the guys behind the glass. They did a wonderful job of packaging my good to-go on my second visit. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back!

Pasticceria Savia serves some of the best arancini I have ever tasted. The quality and flavor of their arancini are simply outstanding. The outer layer is perfectly crispy, while the rice inside is cooked to perfection and infused with delicious fillings. Whether you prefer the classic ragù, the creamy cheese, or the flavorful vegetable options, Pasticceria Savia offers a wide variety of arancini to satisfy every palate. The size of the arancini is generous, making them a great option for a filling snack or a light meal. The staff at Pasticceria Savia is friendly and efficient, providing excellent service. If you're a fan of arancini, I highly recommend visiting Pasticceria Savia to indulge in their delectable creations.

We visited twice as part of a day trip to Catania. The granite is some of the best we had in Sicily. We tried pistacchio, lemon, chocolate, and almond. All very well done. Their brioche was also excellent, so definitely try yourself a traditional Sicilian breakfast here. We returned in the afternoon for the classic Sicilian arancini with ragu which was just a big ball of gooey wonderful. Their gelato also was excellent, particularly their almond flavor. Service was good on both visits, although they do get busy. We left with some frutta martorana to bring home that look indistinguishable from real fruit. Highly recommend if you find yourself in Catania!

Cannolo: The shell was extremely thick and somewhat off-tasting. The ricotta was fine without overt issues, smooth, not overly sweet. Pistachio dust for the ends, which is more decorative than adding any flavor or texture. Cannoli are pre-filled not made à la minute, but with the high turnover that isn't really what contributed to the ultimately disappointing result. Rank at or near the bottom. 2/10. Cappuccino: Great. Quick efficient service performed under heavy fire. Milk not overheated, perfect texture. Overall: Extremely busy with locals and tourists alike. Maybe give it a shot if they don't seem too crowded, but would not hurry back.

During our recent trip to Catania, Italy, we had the pleasure of discovering the culinary staple that is Pasticceria Savia. Our experience was centered around one of Sicily's most beloved treats – the arancini – and let me tell you, it was a taste sensation that left us quite impressed. The place has a warm and inviting ambiance. When we visited, it was not overcrowded. There are separate lanes for ordering and receiving food. There was a big variety of arancini, we chose the beef ragu one. The arancini were perfectly crispy on the outside, giving way to a rich and flavorful rice filling inside.

It seems to be the best pastry in Catania, I only tried this because I only had one day to dedicate to the city, I know it's few, but we were passing through. In any case, I took a "granita con gelato" and some "arancini", and other things that I put in my Van and ate calmly afterwards. It's true, the difference with all the other sweets and cakes eaten around is clear, the quality is superior. The place is a bit too modern, probably redone recently, it loses a little the charm of historicity, but it is clear that from there they control the art of the Catania pastry.
