I came to Pasticceria Savia with my husband and some friends after hearing about it and reading more about the hype online. It was certainly a popular destination - translation: busy. We opted to wait for a table, but if you're shorter on time, you can also order at the bar (note: if you order at the bar, you are expected to consume it at the standing bar or take it to-go - I saw some staff nudge some people out who ordered at the bar and then tried to cut the line waiting for tables). They're known for their sweet treats, pastries, and savoury items, and so we opted for a sampling of each. The brioche that came with the granita were probably the biggest and best ones I had during our Sicily trip, hot and soft and a perfect complement to the granita (which itself was good but probably not the best I had tbh). The arancini was also great, but as someone with a sweet tooth, I recall the sweeter items more ;) Savia was a nice place for a slow breakfast with coffee and food and other goodies, but if it's crowded and you're in a rush, the atmosphere may be...

If you want to experience the real Sicily — where tradition, flavor, and soul come together — Savia in Catania is the place to go.

From the moment you step inside, the aroma of freshly fried arancini fills the air — golden, crisp on the outside, and perfectly creamy within. These aren’t just snacks; they’re a piece of Sicilian history, made just as they should be. Every bite reminds you that you’re tasting the original, authentic flavor that locals have loved for generations.

And it doesn’t stop there. For something sweet, pair a soft, buttery brioche with the rich, velvety granita — the perfect Sicilian breakfast duo. Add a strong espresso, and you’ll understand why this region’s culinary traditions are so revered.

At Savia, every flavor feels like it’s feeding your soul. It’s not just food — it’s heritage, passion, and love served on a plate. Whether you come for the arancino or stay for the dessert, this is a stop no true food lover should...

We ordered at the till which is different from ordering at a table. Which we didn't know (later saw the sign) we ordered a cannoli €2.70 and a cappuccino €1.40. Then went to find a table. There were no tables outside. So I looked for a table inside. The waiter says we cannot eat inside. I was puzzled. Then he says we can go outside. I said there's no space outside. Then he says when you purchase at the till it's different price from when you order at a table. So that makes sense. Otherwise I thought he was rude. Anyways, we ate at the side of the bar. Bar guy was kind enough to give me WiFi to post my iG. This place was recommended by the hotel staff where we stayed. 7k+ reviews. Must be good. Cannoli was nice and fresh. Just too sweet for my tastes buds. The texture is like 蛋散. Coz it was deep fried. So not a sweet I would eat regularly. Good to try it coz it's a Sicilian speciality.

Sicily #10, Catania #10, Pasticceria/bakery #1, Cafe #2: found this place while searching Google Maps one hungry morning. Couldn't believe how many good ratings this place had, and it didn't disappoint. From the moment you walk in, it feels like you're being transported back in time. I love how all the pastries/food is displayed. We ordered: fagottino 🐷 🧀 🍅 €2,5, brioche 🥐 €1,4, and a colazione 🍩 €1,6 (chocolate filled fried donut). Honestly, all three items were great. So great I went back the next day and added a cream-filled donut to the mix. It's a bit confusing how to order, but you pay first and then give your receipt to the guys behind the glass. They did a wonderful job of packaging my good to-go on my second visit. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back!
