As our tradition to visit an Indian restaurant during our trip, in Catania, we came across the only authentic Indian restaurant on the island of Sicily. We went to Indian Royal Resturant di Yoga Chef with our good friend whom has been wanting to try Indian cuisine for some time and this restaurant was the ideal place for her to taste it. It does get busy, so a good idea would be to call to reserve a table beforehand.

We decided not to order but to allow our host to choose our starters and mains. Our host asked about any dietary restrictions, which we all had none other than Irina and I are vegetarian and our friend would like something non-veg. We had three different starters, included pakora, aubergine, and lentil patty. All were deep fried and paired with a beautiful sauce. Not only was it pleasing to the eye, but dancing with flavours in our mouths.

The three mains were bengan bartha, kofta and butter chicken with chapatti and rice the side. Plated beautifully in a traditional mini kadhai, the aroma and flavours were popping as we continued to salivate.

Yoga Chef came out when she had some time to greet everyone and took extra time to speak and tell us about their journey.

When in Sicily and a change is needed, this family run Indian restaurant is a true gem to visit. You will not be disappointed! The service is wonderful, they make you feel like a member of their family from the moment you walk in. The food is prepared with love and care, and spices married with precision with each dish. The heat is the perfect amount for those that require it to be tame. Those who prefer the heat a few notches higher, just need to let your server know.

It was truly an amazing dining experience in Indian Royal Resturant di Yoga Chef that we will...

A Homely Delight at Anu Duggal's Restaurant- Indian Royal Restaurant

I would give this restaurant a Million Stars if I could!

Nestled within the heart of the city Catania on Via Umberto, Indian Royal Restaurant is a hidden gem that offers a truly authentic and comforting dining experience. From moment we stepped inside, there was an aroma of freshly prepared spices in the air, instantly transporting you to the vibrant streets of India. The menu showcases a range traditional Indian dishes, each with meticulous care and attention detail. What sets this restaurant apart is the fact that every dish is prepared using home-made and fresh ingredients sourced locally. The result is an explosion of flavors that leave your taste buds with joy.

I started my culinary journey with the Classics   - Onion Pakoras and Mango Lassi. The accompanying sauces were made out of cashew and yogurt and the most unique was the prickly cactus chutney with a tangy sweetness that elevated the dish to new heights.

On to the main course, the butter chicken stole the show. The tender pieces of chicken were bathed in a rich creamy tomato-based sauce that had just the right amount of spices. Accompanied by fragrant basmati and homemade whole-wheat flatbread. It was a true testament of the yogi chef, Anu Duggal culinary expertise.

To end meal on a sweet note, indulged in the traditional dessert, gulab jamun. These golden, syrup dumplings (sort of like American pancakes) were soft, and utterly decadent The balanced sweetness and subtle of cardamom hint, and coconut dusting made it perfect finale to my...

The moment we stepped into this family-run restaurant, we knew we were in for a treat. Our party of 10 friends, visiting from the USA, had an absolutely amazing time here. From the warm and inviting ambiance to the impeccable service, everything about this place exceeded our expectations.

But what truly set this restaurant apart was the incredible Indian cuisine they served. Having tried various Indian dishes from all corners of the world, we can confidently say that this place beats them all. The flavors were simply out of this world, and each bite was a delightful explosion of taste.

The real star of the show was the Yoga Chef Mom, who clearly poured her heart and soul into every dish. Her expertise in combining special herbs and spices was unparalleled. We were blown away by the unique flavors and aromas that danced on our taste buds. It was evident that she had a deep understanding of the ingredients and a true passion for her craft.

The staff at this restaurant were incredibly friendly and attentive. They went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional.

We left this restaurant with full bellies, happy hearts, and unforgettable memories. If you're a fan of Indian cuisine or simply looking for a culinary adventure, this is the place to be. We cannot recommend it enough. Trust us, you won't be...

We were dropping someone off at Catania airport and figured we will stopped by Catania for some ethnic food. Agrigento where we are from, does not have much diverse food besides Sicilian. Looking through Google, we saw this restaurant with 5 star rating. I don't think I ever ate at a 5 star place. So, we went and tried. Just an advice, for dinner go at 7:30 and don't expect your typical restaurant treatment. They treat you like a guest to their home. The food tastes home made which it is. The fried veggie platter is not greasy. Everything tasted clean and delicious. I usually get heartburns after Indian food. This one, I feel perfectly fine afterwards. Great selection of vegetarian dishes since my husband does not eat meat. This place is paradise for him. What can I say, the food is divine, service is wonderful, the price is excellent! I was very happy with the bill! They also speak fluent English. It appears that they have a lot of steady patrons. So, do make a reservation beforehand if you can.
