A nice open bar becoming part of the market when the market is on. Tasty seafood bites from grill or deep fried or fresh you can choose from, as those are displayed on plates on counters. Nice staff, does not seem to speak English but since you can choose food directly by plates it is accessible for non-Italians as well. We never got menu, so we never know what costs what, and this was a little unsettling. I guess we could just ask ;-). For two plates of fried seafood, one plate of grilled vegetables (quite a big one), Aperol Spritz and Messina beer we paid 27 EUR, so one can say pretty average for the location. And the food was simply good. The atmosphere of the market adds to it nicely, so generally an experience worth of recommendation it was.

Loved the arancini and grilled artichokes, the aroma and flavors are incredible. Absolutely delicious! Great to take a break from walking the busy market and have a flavorful bite to eat. Saw the staff setting up in the market and could not believe how everything was completely and thoroughly scrubbed down. Clean, tasty and friendly, plus great to people watch with an amazing view of the beautiful church.

Stopped for a little something to eat before Shopping In the open air market. Had cappuccino which was excellent, also had the arancine (rice balls) which were to die for along with an artichoke which was excellent. Would highly recommend

This place is amazing.

We asked for a typical Sicilian lunch (we think, Italian isn't so strong) and got an excellent salad, two artichokes, a horse meat sandwich, a plate of grilled vegetables and other weird stuff they had on the grill, a beer, and a quarter liter of house wine. The waitress also brought some sort of onion-stuffed intestine/ offal dish which we didn't order but she insisted we try. It was also great, and I'm glad we tried it. All in, 25€.

If you want orderly, predictable dining, maybe try somewhere else. If you want the spirit of Anthony Bourdain to smile on you while you drink cheap beer, revel in the chaos, grill smoke and confusion of a Sicilian market while eating intestines and horse, this...

We had a pretty bad experience here. The food portions were ridiculously small and poor value. The seafood was maybe the worst I have ever had in Catania - we didn't even eat it. The lamb had almost no meat on the bone. Also, there was a singer who used a microphone and was so loud that we couldn't talk. It was even difficult to talk with the staff when we were ordering. Then the singer took breaks every 5 minutes to ask for money from each table. Avoid! There are so many better places to...
