This restaurant came highly recommended to us, but unfortunately, our experience didn’t live up to the hype. We joined the very long line outside and waited about 40 minutes, only to find out—after 35 minutes—that we were supposed to put our names on a list inside before queuing. No one had informed us of this process, which caused unnecessary confusion and frustration. To make matters worse, as we approached the front, a couple behind us was called in and seated before us. When we politely asked why, the waiter ignored our question, then responded rudely and in an unprofessional, almost hostile manner saying “do you have a problem?” After waiting nearly an hour, we were finally seated, but the issues didn’t stop there. Despite ordering at the same time as the couple ahead of us, their food arrived quickly while we were left waiting until they had nearly finished their first course. When our dishes finally came, they were extremely underwhelming—bland, poorly executed, and tasting as though they had been reheated rather than freshly prepared. We left half our meals unfinished, settled the bill, and couldn’t get out fast enough. Overall, this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve had. Don’t be fooled by the long line outside—it’s not a sign of quality. There are far better and more authentic Italian restaurants within walking distance that are worth your...
Read moreAsked for a recommendation which gentleman (believe to be the manager) reluctantly indicated their Taiana, which also held the most enhanced description on the menu, touted as a classic and old Cefaludese preparation where vegetables, pasta, and meat are layered and slowly cooked in ceramic. We ordered this along with another "must try" regional dish, "Ruvidelli alla Bottarga", expecting that local pride would ensure a dish that they would stand by.
Taiana was a Rigatoni pasta with tomato sauce that was brownish and pasty (as overcooked tomato sauce becomes), and had a high noodle ratio. The other dish boasting strong flavors from cured fish roe had even less content relative to noodles, and tasted like a bowl of sour lemon flavored noodles. What made the experience especially bad is that we asked to return this dish, and the manager defended the construction stating that more fish roe could not be added because it would overpower. The quality of all food and service delivered by that point made us disinterested in replacing the returned dish, however the manager stated that it would not be removed from the bill.
In the toilet room water was dripping from the ceiling so that a puddle surrounded the toilet.
The attitudes of the staff along with the lack of pride in the service and product are the traits that distinguish this to be a...
Read moreRecommended by our AirBnB host, put our names down on the wait list and went inside to grab a glass of wine then waited outside, the restaurant was packed with a sizeable Waitlist, We ended up waiting 20 minutes. First impressions there is too many tables for the amount of waiters to handle so the waiters end up running around like crazy people which i understand is a common theme in Italy. A stale bread roll wrapped in paper basically thrown on your table as the waiters run past dumping bread to each customer. Ordered the swordfish carpaccio for entree which was ok, nothing special. For mains we ordered the t-bone and the pork shank. T-bone was disappointing, was very poorly butchered, took me 10 minutes just to break it down to a manageable & edible steak, ordered it medium and it was cooked extremely uneven likely due to the poor butchering job. The pork shank was very delicious but unfortunately came out only slightly warm not hot at all. Finally we ordered the tiramisu which was one of the worst I’ve ever had, Dry and tasteless something similar to what a supermarket would served in large quantities. Restaurant has potential but the food & service just didn’t have the love put into it as you’d expect from a Sicilian style restaurant. I’d imagine in the busier months of the year the kitchen & service...
