The Plaza - Lake Como — Restaurant in Como

If you want to ruin your impression of vacationing in Como and suffer all night from poisoning - then this is the place for you. This is probably the worst place I've ever eaten in all of Italy!! First of all, I want to say that the waiters will not care about you, and even if they see that you've hardly eaten anything, they won't ask what's wrong. BUT the worst part is that it was our last evening in Como, which thanks to this establishment, my friends and I spent with terrible stomach pains and food poisoning. The only good thing here is the location of the establishment. Everything else is HORRIBLE! I STRONGLY WARN EVERYONE - DO NOT COME TO EAT AT THIS PLACE if you don't want to get sick, and don't think that if the bill for the food is high, as we thought, the dishes will be good. DON'T MAKE OUR MISTAKES - GO TO ANOTHER PLACE if you don't want to ruin your health and vacation experience overall. We ordered beef tartare, octopus, tuna steak, focaccia, caprese, and baked...

Terrible service. The guy with glasses and curls was super rude and unfriendly. Before we started eating, we clearly told him that two people wouldn't be eating and therefore wouldn't be using cutlery. At the end of the meal, he put them on the bill. When we reported what we thought was a problem, he politely became completely aggressive and even spoke directly to one of us (one of the people who had eaten), saying that she had eaten a cookie at the beginning. Considering the price they charge, the service is totally disappointing. Besides, we were right next to the door so it was cold. When people walked by, they bothered us. Both waiters spent the entire meal staring at us. Not to be recommended. We've been looking around the area and have seen better and cheaper...

We visited this café with our young children and were shocked to find fruit served with visible bugs and signs of fungus. When I raised the issue with a staff member—who I believe is the manager, named Oliver—his response was, "We are in open air." That was it. No apology, no concern, just a dismissive excuse. I was speechless.

To make matters worse, a lady at the table next to us leaned over to say she found the same bugs in her food and was leaving because she was concerned about the lack of hygiene in the kitchen.

This is not something you expect from any café, let alone one that serves families. Cleanliness and food safety are non-negotiable. I will not be returning, and I strongly caution others to think twice before...
