Cartapaglia Pizza & Gin — Restaurant in Desenzano del Garda

The service was nothing short of a disaster. It was, without a doubt, the worst service experience I've ever had in a restaurant.

Upon arrival, the staff was clearly disengaged. There were five waitstaff standing together, all absorbed in their phones, completely oblivious to the presence of guests. Despite making eye contact and politely asking for a menu multiple times, it took a full five minutes before we finally received one. Even then, it was another ten minutes of sitting idle, trying to catch the attention of the staff, who continued to ignore us.

The lack of professionalism was astonishing. Not once did the waitstaff check on us, and any attempts to get their attention were met with complete indifference. It was as if the guests were an afterthought in their social media world.

Frustrated with the lack of service, we decided to try the restaurant next door. Within five minutes of being seated, we were given menus, had our drink orders taken, and placed our food order. The contrast in service was stark and made us question why we had wasted our time at Cartapaglia in the first place.

In summary, if you're looking for a pleasant evening out, Cartapaglia is not the place to go. The food may be good, but the abysmal service completely overshadows any positive aspect of the dining experience. I highly recommend choosing another venue where guests are actually valued and...

Beautiful restaurant in a beautiful location..

We had a lovely diner with 2 and a dog at this restaurant. The food was really tasty and delicious, pizzas tasted amazing and authentic.

The restaurant was beautifully dressed, with a nice wallpaper, neon signs and nice furniture.

The service was a bit weird, there were very friendly waitresses, but others were a bit hasty and pushy, coming back within 2 minutes asking if you're ready to order multiple times. It gives you the feeling they want you to leave soon.. A Romanian waitress was really friendly, patient and nice luckily. I also like a physical menu instead of a QR code so you can view the menu on your phone, however that is personal preference. Also we were pretty early in the evening, however somehow the restaurant was already out of stock on all the burgers. Meanwhile we see burgers being delivered to a table next to us, but apparently they had the last burgers, despite it only being 19:45. Really strange and annoying if you've picked the restaurant to eat a burger at.

Abbiamo deciso di provare il Cartapaglia Pizza & Gin sotto consiglio di un’amica.

La prenotazione (online) è stata facile, veloce ed intuitiva. Durante la fase di prenotazione, abbiamo potuto scegliere se mangiare all’interno del locale o all’esterno. La nostra scelta è ricaduta sulla cena all’aria aperta, con il lago a pochi passi di distanza e la tipica brezza estiva.

Appena arrivati, siamo stati accolti e accompagnati alla nostra tavolata (7 persone). L’intero menù è di facile comprensione, stampato sulle tovagliette che si trovano sul tavolo. Come antipasto abbiamo provato i gamberetti fritti (“gamberoni croccanti” da menù), i fiori di zucca fritti, le patatine cacio e pepe con tartufo e il calzone fritto con ricotta, salsiccia e friarielli (“Il nostro calzoncello” da menù).

Siamo rimasti molto soddisfatti dal servizio, dato che ci hanno portato anche dei piattini per poter facilitare la condivisione dell’antipasto. Non tutte le pizzerie lo fanno!

La qualità dell’antipasto era ottimo, ma nulla a che vedere con quello che sarebbe venuto dopo!

Le pizze sono arrivate poco dopo, ancora fumanti. Un impasto soffice, sostanzioso e una base ricca di condimento fatto con ingredienti di ottima qualità.

La pizza si scioglieva in bocca, facendosi mangiare morso dopo morso fino a non lasciarne nemmeno una briciola nel piatto.

Molto bella l’idea di consigliare l’abbinamento pizza e gin tonic. È sicuramente un’abbinata che di primo acchitto potrebbe far storcere il naso a molte persone, ma è un concetto innovativo che vale la pena provare.

Oltre alle pizze, classiche e non, si trovano a menù anche dei panini con hamburger, dall’aspetto super invitante. Questi vengono serviti con una porzione di patate dolci fritte, che avranno l’effetto “una tira l’altra”. Punto a favore anche nella personalizzazione dei piatti: la persona che ha ordinato il panino ha richiesto due modifiche al piatto, che sono state eseguite alla lettera.

I dolci sono vari, particolari e non. Anche questi, fatti con prodotti di ottima qualità, che li hanno resi un fine pasto adatto alla cena appena svolta.

Consiglio: provare il sorbetto (versione alcolica e non) prima di passare al dolce. Riuscirete ad assaporarne il gusto al meglio.

Alla cassa è possibile fare conti separati, pagando ognuno ciò che ha preso.

In conclusione è un posto che merita 5 stelle. Personale gentile, educato e professionale. Pizza tra le migliori in zona. Idea originale e dettagli curati in modo minuzioso, dall’immagine del locale alla presentazione dei piatti. Prezzi onesti per il servizio offerto.

Ci sarà sicuramente una “prossima volta”, magari all’interno del locale che sembra...
